Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.2 S

Nikon announced the release of the NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.2 S. This new lens is a fast, wide-angle prime lens compatible with full-frame and FX-format mirrorless cameras that use the Nikon Z mount. The price is yet to be determined, and the release date is February 28, 2025.

About the Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.2 S

The NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.2 S belongs to the S-Line of NIKKOR Z lenses and pursues high optical performance. It enhances the presence of the subject through beautiful, soft bokeh and realistic texture expression. Based on the same design philosophy as the NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.2 S (released in December 2020) and the NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.2 S (released in March 2023), it enables high image quality and deep expression even at wide angles.
The optical system uses three ED lenses and one ED aspherical lens to effectively reduce aberration. In addition, the use of Mesoamorphous Coat, Nano Crystal Coat, and ARNEO Coat suppresses ghosts and flares, achieving outstanding optical performance. In addition to portrait photography, this lens supports users’ imaging expression in a wide range of scenes, such as video shooting.

Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.2 S Features

  • Outstanding resolution achieved by the high optical performance, smooth and beautiful bokeh that takes advantage of the shallow depth of field of the maximum aperture of F1.2, and a 35mm angle of view.
  • Achieves a three-dimensional effect with smooth bokeh that changes gradually as the subject moves away from the focal plane
  • Excellent optical performance achieved through an ideal lens configuration in which lens groups are arranged symmetrically around the aperture.
  • Three ED lenses and one ED aspherical lens effectively reduce various aberrations
  • The use of Mesoamorphous Coat, Nano Crystal Coat, and Arneo Coat effectively suppresses ghosting and flare for clear images.
  • Steppiong motor achieves high-speed, high-precision AF drive for both still images and videos.
    • Works with advanced multi-focus systems
  • Designed with video shooting in mind, such as suppressing changes in the angle of view when focusing (focus breathing) and stabilizing exposure
  • Two “Lens Fn buttons” with a wide range of assignable functions allow smooth setting changes even when shooting in portrait orientation.
  • High dust-proofing and water-resistant performance. Various parts of the lens barrel sealed, including moving parts.
