Ricoh Imaging announced the upcoming release of the RICOH GR IV, a high-end compact digital camera suitable for professional use, on September 12, 2025. The camera combines high image quality with a compact, lightweight body ideal for snapshots.
What is the RICOH GR IV?
This latest model features a completely new image sensor, image processing engine, lens, and other key devices, in order to fully and legitimately evolve the essential values of the GR series, which are high image quality, quick shooting, and portability. Equipped with a new APS-C size image sensor and a newly developed lens, it achieves both further improved image quality and a slimmer design compared to previous models, and also improves battery life with the adoption of a new battery.
This latest model also features enhanced connectivity, with enhanced communication functions and integration with newly developed applications for improved comfort and convenience.
Furthermore, GR SPACE (Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing) will begin exhibiting the actual product from Thursday, August 21st, where visitors can actually touch and try it out.
Additionally, all of the works in the Daido Moriyama photo exhibition “in TOKYO” being held at GR SPACE TOKYO were shot with the RICOH GR IV.
GR IV sales method
The Ricoh Imaging Store and GR SPACE TOKYO are planning to sell the product by lottery. Details will be announced at a later date. For sales methods at other retailers, please contact the respective retailers.
Main features of the RICOH GR IV
Newly developed high-performance thin GR LENS
It is equipped with the newly developed “GR LENS 18.3mm F2.8” that combines high performance with a slim design. While maintaining the same 28mm angle of view (35mm equivalent) and bright F2.8 aperture as before, the latest optical system of 7 elements in 5 groups thoroughly suppresses distortion and chromatic aberration, further improving sharpness all the way to the periphery of the image.

High-quality images
This camera comes equipped with a new, high-sensitivity, low-noise back-illuminated APS-C size CMOS image sensor and the newly developed image processing engine “GR ENGINE 7.” In addition to ultra-high definition with approximately 25.74 million effective pixels, it also achieves excellent high-sensitivity performance with a maximum ISO sensitivity of 204800.

Equipped with a further evolved proprietary image stabilization mechanism “SR”
The camera’s proprietary SR mechanism, built into the camera body, achieves 5-axis image stabilization and provides a high level of compensation equivalent to approximately 6 stops of shutter speed.
Fast startup and fast AF
It achieves the fastest startup time of approximately 0.6 seconds in the GR series, and has improved AF speed and accuracy.

Compact and slim design packed with high performance
The body is thinner than previous models, allowing for a deeper grip and a body that fits naturally in the hand. The ADJ lever has been changed to a dial type, and other improvements have been made to the design to enhance maneuverability.

Exposure modes that can be quickly set to suit your shooting intent
It also comes with a new “Program Auto Ex” function that allows instantaneous switching from “Program AE” to “Aperture Priority AE” or “Shutter Speed Priority AE.” Additionally, a new “Sn (Snap Distance Priority AE) mode” has been added to the mode dial, enabling quick settings.
The addition of “Cinema” image control allows you to enjoy a variety of photographic expressions
In addition to the existing 12 types of finish adjustments, “Image Control” now has new “Cinema Tone (Yellow)” and “Cinema Tone (Green)” options. “Size” has been added to the grain settings, allowing for a wider variety of expressions.

Dual communication using Bluetooth and wireless LAN
By using the newly developed GR series dedicated app “GR WORLD,” various functions for connecting with smart devices can be used, such as importing images to a smartphone and remote shooting.

LCD monitor with improved outdoor visibility
It is equipped with a new 3.0-inch high-resolution LCD monitor with approximately 1,037,000 dots. It also has a new auto function that automatically adjusts the monitor brightness to suit the usage environment.
