NAB2025 Review

One of the highlights at the Sony NAB Show 2025 booth was the display of the VENICE Extension System Mini. This is a new camera extension system for the VENICE 2, and it has an image sensor equivalent to that of the VENICE 2 and VENICE 2 8K. The Sony VENICE Extension System Mini is about 70% smaller in size and 70% smaller in volume than the conventional extension system.

The reason for this compact size lies in the structure of the ND filter. Whereas conventional extension systems simply extend both the image sensor and the ND filter mechanism, the VENICE Extension System Mini uses a drop-in type ND filter, making it significantly smaller and lighter.
Another major feature of this unit is that the cable is thinner and more flexible, making it easier to handle. Also, based on feedback from users, the cable is detachable, giving you more freedom to install it in a variety of locations.
The lens mount also comes with an E-mount and PL-mount adapter, allowing a wide range of lenses to be used. Also, by placing two cameras side-by-side in the E-mount state, the distance between the image sensors is 64mm, which is roughly the same as the distance between the human pupils, making it possible to capture natural 3D images.
This camera also has a built-in 8K sensor and is compatible with both the VENICE 2 6K and 8K. You can connect this camera to the VENICE 2 6K and shoot in 8K. This model offers the same image quality as the VENICE 2, but with increased mobility and more freedom in shooting.
