Fujifilm will release the FUJINON Lens XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 R LM WR, (hereinafter “XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 R LM WR”) in June 2024. This lens will be part of the “XF Lens” lineup of interchangeable lenses for the “X Series” mirrorless digital camera. These cameras deliver image quality through its unique color reproduction technology and is compact and lightweight. The suggested retail price is approximately $780.
The lens is made up of 11 lenses in 9 groups, including 3 aspherical lenses and 3 ED lenses, which suppresses lateral and axial chromatic aberrations and provides high resolution performance across the entire zoom range.
It covers a highly versatile focal range from a wide-angle 16mm (equivalent to 24mm in 35mm format) that is useful for landscape photography and group photos, to a medium telephoto 50mm (equivalent to 76mm in 35mm format) that is useful for portrait photography. The lens also achieves a maximum shooting magnification of 0.3x at the telephoto end (equivalent to a maximum shooting magnification of 0.45x in 35mm format). It is possible to shoot from a minimum shooting distance of 24cm across the entire zoom range, and from as close as 15cm from the tip of the lens.
Fujifilm XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 R LM WR Specs:
The optimal lens arrangement has made it possible to maintain high resolution while also achieving the lightest weight of any “XF lens” zoom lens at approximately 240g. The lens does not extend when zooming, keeping the overall length constant, allowing for more comfortable zoom operation.
This lens employs an inner focus system in which a small, lightweight focus lens group is driven by a linear motor. The compact size of the focus lens group also makes it possible to achieve high-speed, high-precision AF of approximately 0.015 seconds.
The lens barrel is sealed in 13 places to make it dustproof, weatherproof, and able to withstand temperatures as low as -10°C. It can be used safely in a wide range of shooting situations, from light rain and dusty environments to landscape photography on snowy fields and at the seaside.
