DJI Air 3S released. A cutting-edge dual camera drone

DJI announced the release of the new cutting-edge dual camera drone, the “DJI Air 3S.” Let’s have a look at all the details below:

The DJI Air 3S

The DJI Air 3S is equipped with a 1-inch CMOS main camera and a 70 mm medium telephoto camera, both of which support a dynamic range of up to 14 stops. Both cameras support the new “Free Panorama” function, allowing you to flexibly select the shooting range and capture landscapes, buildings, and other images in clear detail.

In addition, the camera now also supports a new obstacle detection function that can be used for nighttime shooting and a highly accurate next-generation smart RTH (return to home) function, making it easy and safe to capture the cinematic footage you desire, even at night.

It weighs just 724g, yet still offers unlimited freedom and flexibility, while still providing professional features like dual cameras and omnidirectional obstacle sensing.”

Enhanced dual camera for unparalleled footage

With improved image quality thanks to 10-bit and ISO sensitivity, the Air 3S’s dual cameras capture photos and videos with even greater detail than the current DJI Mavic 3 Pro. The Air 3S’s dual cameras can capture 10-bit video with H.265 encoding even in normal color mode. The increased ISO sensitivity up to 12,800 delivers refined color performance and flexible post-processing. In D-Log M and HLG color modes, the ISO sensitivity is increased up to 3,200, allowing you to capture bright and detailed city night scenes.

The free panorama mode available on both cameras allows you to manually select the subject or area, then smoothly create a panorama shot by combining multiple captured images.

　 　　

The wide-angle camera with a larger FOV significantly improves the efficiency of panoramic photography, while the medium telephoto camera with significantly reduced image distortion produces impressive panoramic images with a wide field of view obtained from multiple photos and rich details captured with an excellent focal length.

Both cameras are capable of recording video with up to 14 stops of dynamic range, enabling you to capture high-contrast scenes in cinematic quality.

DJI Air 3S dual camera configuration

The 24mm main camera features a 1-inch CMOS sensor with an effective pixel count of 50MP, supports 4K/60fps HDR and 4K/120fps video recording1, and 10-bit D-Log M color mode. Enhanced by advanced image processing technology and intelligent algorithms, the large sensor preserves fine details even in low-light conditions such as twilight and night scenes.

The 70mm medium telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom delivers excellent performance for portraits and vehicle photography. The compressed depth of field effect makes any subject stand out clearly, creating a cinematic image. Equipped with a 48MP effective pixel count, 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, this camera supports the same video specifications and color modes as the main camera. This allows for visually consistent images and efficient post-processing.

Expand your creativity with safe night flights

Offering greater environmental awareness than ever before, the Air 3S is the first DJI drone to feature a forward-facing LiDAR, as well as a downward-facing infrared ToF (Time of Flight) sensor and six vision sensors (two on the front, two on the back and two on the bottom) for omnidirectional obstacle sensing for nighttime photography. These advanced technologies enable the Air 3S to automatically identify and avoid obstacles during flight and return, ensuring safe, trouble-free nighttime photography.

The Air 3S is designed to be an ideal all-around drone that is easy to use. Equipped with real-time vision positioning and map-building technology, the DJI Air 3S memorizes a flight path when there is sufficient light, allowing it to take off from areas without satellite signals and return safely.

Stay in focus with ActiveTrack 360°

DJI Air 3S with ActiveTrack 360° keeps any subject in the frame. With optimized tracking performance, the drone automatically plans a flight path based on the surrounding flying environment. Even if the lower half of a subject is obscured, such as behind bushes or a person on a bridge, the drone will adjust the framing to keep the subject in the center of the frame, ensuring dynamic footage.

　 　　

The Air 3S features a new subject focus feature that keeps the focus sharp even when flying manually or when the subject is off-center in the frame, allowing pilots to focus on the creative aspects of composition and camerawork.
