Astera has announced QuikSpot, a battery-powered LED lighting fixture. QuikSpot is designed to meet the demands of the fast-paced environments of large-scale events and media productions. It combines ease of use, precise performance and quick setup for professionals who value an efficient and versatile solution in a compact form factor.
QuikSpot, a zoomable single-source spotlight, takes inspiration from the efficient workflow and convenient housing of Astera’s AX5 PAR light, while leveraging the optical quality of its Titan LED engine and PlutoFresnel. QuikSpot’s overall design is optimized to save time and effort in both product preparation and operation, making it an ideal solution for busy rental and production companies. IP65-rated and lightweight (3.5kg), it performs well on stage and on set, and easily bridges the gap between various lighting applications, maximizing ROI.
Powered by Astera’s Titan LED engine, QuikSpot offers a 13°-60° zoom range, high color rendering, and a homogenized, powerful “one-shadow” Fresnel optical system that ensures a superior RGBMA color spectrum, making it ideal for both live and camera applications. QuikSpot also offers a rotatable 8-way barndoor with built-in safety link and many other practical accessory options, enabling creative and functional lighting solutions such as up/down lighting, high color rendering key lighting, and punchy backlighting.
Superior performance and flexibility
QuikSpot stands out as Astera’s brightest fixture under 60W, producing up to 3000 Lux brightness at 3m (13°). The latest OutputGain feature allows users to choose between maximum output and deep color saturation, or high CRI with excellent skin tones.
The QuikTurn zoom mechanism is 10x more efficient than comparable filter-based systems, delivering wider beam angles and hard light performance in spot position and high optical quality without color shift or multiple shadows in flood position. The oval rotatable filter and safety-link enabled barndoor allow for further beam shaping. All existing AX5 front attachments, including filters, domes and snoots, fit QuikSpot. Unlike the AX5, QuikSpot employs Astera’s proprietary Titan LED Engine color mixing system and OutputGain, ensuring rich, deep colors along with the in-camera benefits and beauty.
Ease of use for busy professionals
QuikSpot can be used both wired and wirelessly and has a battery life of up to 4.5 hours at full power with OutputGain engaged, or up to 20 hours in power saving mode. Rigging options include a detachable yoke, TrackPin Compact for minimal hanging height, and a 3/8″ baby pin thread on the back for added flexibility. And like the AX5, FlexCovers are available so QuikSpot can easily blend into its surroundings at corporate events.
As 100% wireless lights, QuikSpots’ built-in battery charges directly through the case and electrical contacts, eliminating the need for extra wires. Accessories like the new ChargingPlate and cutting-edge PrepBox streamline the setup, allowing users to easily assign DMX, pair and pre-program up to eight fixtures simultaneously in just seconds. For travel, the durable ChargingCase Compact and TruckPack contain eight fixtures plus a ChargingPlate and PrepBox, and can simultaneously accommodate up to eight barndoors, a rotatable 17° x 46° elliptical filter, TrackPin Compact rigging accessories and additional storage for other important tools like cables and clamps.
