New Lenses for All Mounts Announced!
SIGMA held a SIGMA Stage Online announcement event this week, and in this event, they announced a large number of new products that should have SIGMA fans excited. Most of these lenses are to be released on April 21st, 2023.
L-Mount and E-Mount Compatible Lenses
First, the SIGMA 50mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary full-frame mirrorless lens will be released on April 21st, 2023. The suggested retail price is 110,000 yen including tax.
This lens is a new product of the I series developed under the concept of “premium compact prime,” which is high performance, compact, and lightweight. The lens configuration uses one SLD glass and three aspherical lenses to effectively correct various aberrations.
The conflicting ideals of improving optical performance while reducing body size and weight have been realized through the latest optical design and the processing and production technology of Sigma’s Aizu factory, which is the production base of Sigma. In terms of expressive power, we also pursued the beauty of bokeh. In consideration of the focal length, which is often used for portrait photography, we focused on not only the softness of the bokeh itself, but also the smoothness of the bokeh from the in-focus part to the out-of-focus part.
Next, the 17mm F4 DG DN | Contemporary full-frame lens will also be released on April 21st, 2023. The suggested retail price is 97,900 yen including tax.
The lens configuration uses 2 SLD glass and 3 aspherical lenses. By adopting an aspherical lens not only for the first lens, but also for the rearmost lens closest to the image sensor, each aberration is corrected well while keeping the body size small. As a result, a filter diameter of 55mm has been achieved, despite the fact that this is an ultra-wide-angle lens that normally tends to have a large front. It is compatible with front filters and can be used in combination with I-series lenses with the same filter diameter.
The short minimum focusing distance of 12 cm is also a major feature. Because it can focus even at close distances, it is said to be suitable for selfies that capture the background and close-up shots. A quiet and high-speed stepping motor is used for the AF drive system, so you can enjoy comfortable shooting with both still images and movies. With a design that takes flare and ghost into consideration, the ultra-wide-angle lens makes it easy for the light source to enter, but enables clear shooting in any environment.
