Leica Camera will release a new model of the Leica D-LUX series of compact digital cameras, the Leica D-LUX8, in July 2024.
Leica released the first model in this series in 2003. Since then, eight generations and numerous special limited edition models have been released, and the series has established itself as a compact digital camera with top-class performance in Leica’s product category. The newly released “Leica D-LUX8” is a new model that brings together Leica’s unique product manufacturing know-how and is finished in an even more compact and easy-to-use form.
The layout of the controls has been redesigned to be simpler and more ergonomic, making them easier to use than ever before. The user interface has also been improved to be even more user-friendly, taking inspiration from the popular Leica Q series.
The image sensor in the Leica D-LUX8 is a 4/3-inch CMOS sensor with a total of 21 million pixels. (17 effective pixels). The lens is a large-aperture “Leica DC Vario-Summilux f1.7-2.8/10.9-34mm ASPH.” (focal length equivalent to 24-75mm in 35mm format). In addition to an intuitive design, it also ensures seamless connectivity with Leica’s dedicated app “Leica FOTOS.”
Furthermore, it is the first camera in this series to support shooting in DNG (RAW) format, which allows for greater freedom in editing. It also comes with a flash, enabling it to be used in a wider range of scenes.
To coincide with the launch of the Leica D-LUX8, new dedicated accessories will be available, including a hand grip, carrying strap, wrist strap, and leather camera protector, each available in multiple color variations, as well as an auto lens cap, soft release button, and a variety of bags.
