DJI announced the launch of a new series of all-in-one Vlog camera drones called the DJI Flip.
Introducing the DJI Flip
A drone specialized for photography that does not require a remote controller
Weighing less than 249g, the DJI Flip features foldable, full-body protective propeller guards for safe and reliable flight. It uses a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor to capture impressive 48MP photos and 4K videos with just one tap. DJI claims the Flip is easy to fly, even for beginners, and significantly improves the safety of the drone and its surroundings during flight.
“DJI is excited to partner with NVIDIA to bring the power of drones to the next level,” said Ferdinand Wolf, Director of Product Experience at DJI. “Building on the success of our consumer camera drones, the addition of DJI Flip to our lineup combines the simplicity of the DJI Neo with the superior imaging capabilities of the DJI Mini series, making it possible for anyone to capture both aerial footage and close-up portraits,” continued Mr. Wolf.
AI Tracking and Shooting Modes
DJI Flip combines creative tools like AI Tracking and intelligent shooting modes with safety features, like full-body propeller guards and automatic braking on all-new folding arms. These features make it easy for anyone to capture amazing aerial footage, regardless of their level of photography or drone expertise.
Ensuring safe and reliable flights
The DJI Flip features a foldable, full-body protective propeller guard that covers the entire propeller to prevent injury or damage to the drone, ensuring a safe and reliable flight. The blade guards are made of lightweight, strong carbon fiber, and are 1/60th the weight of traditional polycarbonate guards while maintaining the same rigidity and durability.
Smart aerial photography with one push of a button
The DJI Flip requires no special training and is easy to fly in most countries and regions. This palm-sized drone is lightweight and compact, allowing you to film anywhere.
Whether you’re hiking through the woods or climbing steep mountain passes, DJI Flip is easy to fly. Use the mode button to choose from six smart shooting modes to capture impressive footage. AI subject tracking keeps your subject in the frame. The six smart shooting modes include Dronie, Circle, Rocket, Spotlight, Helix, and Boomerang.
Equipped with a powerful camera with smart features
DJI Flip shoots 48MP photos with high dynamic range to capture more detail in bright and dark areas. The camera features a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor with dual native ISO fusion technology, f/1.7 aperture, and a pixel size of 2.4μm using Quad Bayer (4-in-1) array technology.
You can also take photos with up to 4x zoom, and use Smart Photo, a next-generation feature that combines HDR imaging, scene recognition, and more to deliver vivid images.
The DJI Flip captures true-to-life footage with 4K/60fps HDR video, as well as 4K/100fps slow-motion shooting and 10-bit D-Log M color mode. The 4:3 aspect ratio CMOS sensor provides enough headroom to maintain 2.7K resolution even when cropped to portrait orientation, making it optimized for smartphone viewing and social media.
Equipped with the following intelligent shooting functions, it makes it easy to produce professional-quality work.
- Master Shot: With Master Shot, DJI Flip automatically executes a variety of camera movements to capture multiple clips, then edits them with music, cuts, and effects to create a cinematic shot quickly and easily.
- Hyperlapse: Choose from four modes – Free, Circle, Course Lock and Waypoint – to capture time lapse footage in up to 4K in landscape mode and up to 2.7K in portrait mode.
- FocusTrack: Get creative while keeping your subject in frame with FocusTrack, which includes three powerful features to help you capture stunning footage: ActiveTrack 4.0, Spotlight 2.0, and Point of Interest 3.0.
- Panorama: Choose from 180°, wide angle, vertical and sphere to record magnificent landscapes with panoramic photos.
Other great features of the DJI Flip
The DJI Flip Intelligent Flight Battery provides up to 31 minutes of flight time, so you can keep filming without worrying about running out of battery.
DJI Flip’s 3D infrared sensing system supports automatic braking, ensuring high safety even at night. When combined with the DJI RC-N3 or DJI RC 2 transmitter, DJI O4 video transmission is available, enabling 1080p/60fps video transmission up to 13km (8km in Japan). It also has excellent interference resistance. This allows you to see spectacular landscapes in the distance with clear images.
The DJI Flip Parallel Charging Hub can charge two batteries simultaneously, significantly reducing charging times, and with the DJI Fly app, footage can be transferred at speeds of up to 30MB/s.
DJI Flip can be controlled with the DJI RC-N3 or DJI RC 2 remote controller, or it can be flown without a remote controller using the DJI Fly app or voice control. When connected to a smartphone, it automatically filters propeller noise and intelligently reduces noise while capturing audio.
