OM Digital Solutions announced the release of the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 50-200mm F2.8 IS PRO, a large-aperture ultra-telephoto zoom lens from its imaging product brand “OM SYSTEM,” on September 27, 2025. Compliant with the Micro Four Thirds System standard, it offers a 100-400mm equivalent aperture at F2.8 throughout the zoom range, and up to 800mm F5.6 equivalent when used with a 2x teleconverter, enabling unparalleled shooting possibilities.
The PRO series, which incorporates the latest optical technology, achieves the high resolution performance unique to the series across the entire zoom range. It supports 5-axis sync image stabilization (compensation effect of up to 7.0 stops), providing powerful support for handheld shooting in the ultra-telephoto range. It also offers excellent close-up shooting capabilities with a maximum shooting magnification equivalent to 0.5x. This high-performance ultra-telephoto zoom lens will meet the expectations of photographers in a wide range of scenes, including natural landscapes, wild birds, wildlife, and nature macro photography. This lens is made to order.

A unique, high-image-quality, large-aperture, super-telephoto zoom lens equivalent to 100-400mm F2.8 on its own, or up to 800mm F5.6 when used with a 2x teleconverter
The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 50-200mm F2.8 IS PRO covers a focal range equivalent to 100-400mm with a maximum aperture of F2.8 throughout the zoom range, and is a large-aperture super telephoto zoom lens that can reach a maximum focal length equivalent to 800mm F5.6 when using a 2x teleconverter.
The bright maximum aperture enables shooting with a high-speed shutter and reduced ISO sensitivity, making it ideal for photographing birds and wildlife that are active in low light conditions such as early morning and dusk. The wide focal range also enables a wide range of expression in landscape photography, making this single lens suitable for a wide range of shooting scenes.
Lens Construction
The luxurious lens configuration of 21 elements in 13 groups, including a large-diameter EDA lens and two Super ED lenses, suppresses color bleeding and flare, achieving excellent resolution even at the edges of the screen, despite the large aperture of F2.8 throughout the zoom range.
In addition, the newly developed “ZERO (Zuiko Extra low Reflection Optical) Coating II” suppresses ghosting and flare, even in difficult shooting environments such as backlit conditions, providing clear, sharp images. The zoom system uses an inner zoom that minimizes shifts in the center of gravity when zooming, allowing for stable framing and comfortable shooting over long periods of time. High-speed, high-precision focusing supports AF tracking continuous shooting at up to 50 frames per second.
Furthermore, this lens offers excellent close-up shooting capabilities with a minimum focusing distance of 0.78m across the entire zoom range. The maximum shooting magnification is equivalent to 0.5x, and when using a 2x teleconverter, telemacro shooting at life-size equivalent is possible. This is effective for nature macro photography of insects that tend to fly away when approached. It also supports “depth stacking,” a feature unique to OM SYSTEM cameras.

Supports 5-axis sync image stabilization with a compensation effect of up to 7.0 stops, enabling light and easy handheld shooting
It supports 5-axis sync image stabilization that works in conjunction with the camera’s built-in image stabilization. Thanks to a high-precision gyro sensor and optimized image stabilization algorithm, it boasts a world-leading image stabilization step count of up to 7.0 at 400mm equivalent.
The image stabilization function not only reduces camera shake during shooting, but also proves effective in situations where you need to keep the subject within the frame when framing. It can be particularly difficult to keep the subject stable within the frame when shooting handheld in the super-telephoto range, but 5-axis sync image stabilization stabilizes the viewfinder image, making handheld super-telephoto shooting a breeze.
Although it is a large-aperture super telephoto zoom lens, it is easy to carry around at approximately 1,075g (excluding the tripod mount), making it possible to make the shooting system smaller and lighter, allowing you to move freely in search of your subject as you wish, greatly improving the mobility of your photography.

High reliability and operability to support shooting in harsh natural environments
With IP53 dust and water resistance and a freezeproof design down to -10°C, it can be used safely in harsh environments. The front lens element is coated with fluorine, so even if water droplets or dirt get on the front of the lens, they can be easily wiped off, allowing you to resume shooting immediately. Even in natural environments with drastic weather changes, you can concentrate on shooting without worrying about your equipment getting wet.

The lens body is coated with a heat-shielding paint. Compared to standard black paint, this more efficiently reflects infrared rays from sunlight, preventing the temperature inside the lens from rising even when used in the hot sun, ensuring stable optical performance. It also features the following functions, designed for ease of use that allows users to concentrate on shooting.
M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 50-200mm F2.8 IS PRO Lens Body Features
- Rubber zoom/focus rings for smooth, non-slip operation
- Focus limit switch for quick focusing according to the distance to the subject
- Focus switch for instant AF/MF switching
- Preset focus function that allows you to memorize any focus position and instantly recall it
- Four L-Fn buttons to which various functions can be assigned, allowing you to operate them within natural reach whether shooting vertically or horizontally, without taking your eye off the viewfinder.

Furthermore, the lens hood is equipped with an operation window that allows for the rotation of circular polarizing filters, which are frequently used in landscape photography. The tip of the hood is made of rubber to prevent scratches. The tripod mount can be attached and detached even with the lens attached to the camera. The lens foot is designed to be comfortable to hold when carrying the camera, and is compatible with Arca-Swiss type clamps.
