Fujifilm Corporation announced the release its first dedicated video camera, the FUJIFILM GFX ETERNA 55 (hereafter referred to as “GFX ETERNA 55”), will occur in late October 2025. The company had previously announced that it was aiming for a release in the middle of 2025.
The GFX ETERNA 55 is a video production camera equipped with a 100-megapixel large-format sensor, the GFX 102MP CMOS II HS, with a diagonal of approximately 55mm, which is about 1.7 times the size of a 35mm camera, and the high-speed image processing engine, the X-Processor 5. In addition to its rich gradation and three-dimensional image expression, the GFX ETERNA 55 is said to realize a wider variety of image expression thanks to the color reproduction technology that the company has cultivated over the 90 years since its founding.

The GFX ETERNA 55 features the world’s longest large-format sensor for a filmmaking camera, measuring 43.8mm wide x 32.9mm high, providing an image circle that surpasses full-frame and Super 35mm formats for filmmaking. This allows users to choose from five cinematic formats: the “GF” format, which makes full use of the 55mm diagonal large-format sensor for 4:3 open-gate shooting, as well as “Premista,” “35mm,” “Anamorphic (35mm),” and “Super 35.” Attaching a mount adapter, such as the included “PL Mount Adapter G,” expands the range of lens options, supporting filmmakers in creating images that meet their specific intent and enabling them to pursue a variety of visual expressions.
