Tamron 70-180mm F/2.8 G2 Lens for Nikon Z Mount Details
The 70-180mm F2.8 G2 was developed as the second-generation “G2” model based on the first-generation “70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD (Model A056),” which was well-received in the market. The lens initially made its debut for Sony E-mount in 2023. Now, a new version for Nikon Z-mount has been added to the lineup.
The 70-180mm F2.8 G2 comes equipped with Tamron’s proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanism, while achieving the smallest and lightest size in its class. It combines high portability with stable shooting, making it an ideal lens for any situation.
The lens delivers uncompromising imaging performance across the entire zoom range, and at the wide-angle end, it allows for close-up shooting with a minimum focusing distance of 0.3m, allowing users to enjoy the bold, close-up photography that only this lens can provide.
The autofocus drive comes equipped with a linear motor focus mechanism, VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive), which enables high-speed, high-precision AF. This provides stable focusing performance not only for still images but also for video shooting. Furthermore, it is compatible with Tamron’s proprietary software, TAMRON Lens Utility (PC version and Mobile version), which allows customization of functions according to various shooting styles, such as still images and video.
The lens exterior design comes with ease of use and scratch resistance in mind. This lens offers a good balance of portability, imaging power, and operability, making shooting with a large-aperture telephoto zoom lens a more free and comfortable experience.
