Nikon fans have been waiting for the Nikon Z8 for years! We believe that it could be finally happening in March!
Why is that and what to expect? Let’s find out!
Nikon Z8 Announcement ?
March 25th ?
Nikon Philippines posted this particular post on their Facebook Page. This means that there will be a major announcement at the end of March. Nikon will also close its Nikon Plaza Tokyo Showroom due to an “undisclosed event” on March 28th from 4-6:30PM.
As both of these events are quite close to each others, we can expect Nikon to first announce it on the 25th and have an product introduction event for journalists or partners to maybe present the Nikon Z8 pre-production model, maybe if we are lucky, a launch event.
What to expect from the Nikon Z8?
Well rumors have been around since the release of the Sony A7RIV back in 2019. At that time, Nikon ordered a huge amount of 61MP sensors. At the moment in the Nikon Z line up, there is entry level like the Nikon Z50, mid range like the Nikon Z6 II and of course the Z9 which is a powerhouse. However a model focusing on high resolution is still missing and the Z8 could fit perfectly in this spot.
Apart from that, we do not have other leaks. However, in this day and age, we expect the Nikon Z8 to offer 8K at least 30p, maybe 60p and 4k120fps seems like a given.
As the Nikon Z7 ii shoots up to 10 frames per second, we may see15 or 20 images per second in burst, most likely with In-Body-Image-Stabilization as other models like the Z5 have it. We also expect Dual SD Card with a CF-Express Slot, to go along with the 8K and 4K120fps.
How does the Nikon Z8 fit in the current market?
The Nikon Z8 seems like it will be a competitor of the Canon EOS R5, Sony A7RIV. All of those cameras are, for their brand, high resolution cameras that allow you to shoot 8K, burst of pictures and can also be used for sports and event photography so that you don’t miss any moment and we can expect the Z8 to also come at the same price range of $4500-$5000.
