Sony will release the Sony FE 16mm-25mm F2.8 G wide-angle zoom G lens on May 17, 2024 (orders will begin on April 23). The estimated market price is around $1,199.99 USD, including tax.
The FE 16mm-25mm F 2.8 G is a large aperture, compact, wide-angle zoom G lens that combines mobility and the expressive power of F2.8. Despite its small size and light weight, it achieves the high resolution performance and beautiful bokeh that only a large aperture G lens can provide, as well as high-quality image expression with a full zoom value of 2.8.

Outstanding image quality in a compact body
The latest optical design achieves excellent imaging performance and close-up shooting performance. With autofocus, users can get as close as 0.18m on the wide-angle side. By efficiently arranging elements including four aspherical lenses, including one special low-dispersion aspherical lens, and three special low-dispersion glass elements, it achieves both high imaging performance and compactness.
The lens has a compact body with MTF approaching that of the original 1635GM. The wide-angle side is 0.18m with AF, and the maximum shooting magnification is 0.2x with AF. The aperture value uses an 11-blade circular aperture, which can depict beautiful, circular, smooth bokeh.
High autofocus performance
Equipped with two linear motors, it achieves high-speed, quiet, and vibration-free focus drive. In terms of autofocus performance, it also supports the α9III’s maximum high-speed continuous shooting of 120 frames per second. It keeps the subject in focus even in slow motion or high-definition 4K/8K videos.
Large aperture F2.8, yet incredibly compact and lightweight
The new FE 16mm-25mm F2.8 G weighs approximately 409g, making it smaller and lighter than the G MAster, and like the F4 lens, it has a very compact design.

It supports the active mode and dynamic active mode of image stabilization, and the α breathing correction function.
