Over Japan’s Golden Week, our team, in collaboration with PRONEWS Global parent System5, held the first Tokyo Creative Collective event. Held at Peace Works Studios in Omotesando, we had set up a photo set, collaborated with renown fashion designer Lavi, and had 3 cameras available for local Tokyo creatives to test out.
We held this event in collaboration with System5 and the PRONEWS team to provide a Nikon Z8 and a Sony FX3, along with a couple Nikon lenses, Sony cinematic lenses, and Sigma lenses. Web editor Zach Kuhn also provided his newly-purchased from System 5 Nikon Zf, as well.
One notable aspect of the event was the high number of legacy Nikon users. Many already used F-mount Nikon cameras, such as the D850. The Z8 is marketed as the Nikon Z-mount spiritual successor to the D850.
Utilizing the photo set, eclectic fashion by Lavi, and a couple of models, the guests tested out the capabilities of the Z8 and Zf. One guest commented on the operability of the Z8 being familiar, but its capabilities unmatched. Another guest enjoyed the controllability of the Nikon Zf.
The Sony FX3, a compact cinematic camera, also turned some heads. It was used in combination with Sigma E-mount cine lenses.

As we progress through 2024, we will host more Tokyo Creative Community events, in conjunction with camera manufacturers.
