LK SAMYANG, aka SAMYANG Lens. launched the AF 12mm F2 RF-S, a compact and lightweight autofocus wide-angle prime lens compatible with Canon RF-S cameras. This lens is Samyang’s first RF-S compatible prime lens, enabling dynamic and immersive photography with a wide angle of view.
The 12mm lens has the widest angle of view among Canon RF-S prime lenses and is suitable for a wide variety of scenes, including landscapes, celestial bodies, architecture, and travel photography. The bright F2 aperture design allows you to capture clear, beautiful images even in low-light environments.
In addition, the lens is small enough for APS-C cameras and weighs only 213g, making it a good fit when used with a gimbal. Furthermore, the AF/MF switch on the side of the lens improves operability.

This new lens’s optical design, which uses three low dispersion lenses and two aspherical lenses, provides excellent resolution even at wide angles of view while minimizing chromatic aberration, distortion, and coma aberration. It is possible to capture the beauty of the vast night sky as it is. In addition, the bright F2 aperture produces bright and clear images even in low-light environments.
Emphasizing perspective for a three-dimensional look
The AF 12mm F2 RF-S takes advantage of the shallow depth of field achieved by the large aperture, resulting in beautiful background blur. This allows you to take photos that highlight the subject. In addition, the minimum shooting distance is as short as 0.2m, making it possible to take three-dimensional images that make use of the sense of perspective.
Fast and quiet AF performance
The adoption of a linear STM (stepping motor) achieves accurate and quiet AF, enabling quiet and smooth shooting while quickly tracking the subject.

The AF 12mm F2 RF-S is compact and lightweight, measuring just 57.2mm long and weighing 213g, making it highly maneuverable and portable. Its matte finish and luxurious red ring provide a design that blends in with the camera. The AF/MF switch is located on the side for added convenience. Weather sealing is also provided to protect the lens from light rain, snow, and dust.
