SXSW2024 / Vol.01
SXSW2024 began on March 8th local time in Austin. This event went for nine days until March 16th, with many events including conference sessions, film screenings, and live music performances taking place throughout the city of Austin. Here are some photos of the atmosphere in Austin on the opening day of SXSW2024.
Ballroom D
The Austin Convention Center (ACC), the heart of SXSW, is home to Ballroom D, where keynote sessions were held, a large exhibition hall where the Creative Industries Expo is held, and Registration, where participants receive their badges.
Usually, there is a line at registration on the morning of the first day to exchange badges, but this year, the lines were shorter. Starting this year, some of the hotels affiliated with SXSW have started a service where you can receive your badge when you check in, so this may have had a big effect.
Ballroom D, where many famous speakers take to the stage, including the daily keynote sessions, is the largest venue in the SXSW conference section. It can accommodate about 2,000 people, but since people tend to concentrate on popular sessions, you often have to line up early to get in. This year, there was a line from the first day.
While walking around Austin, I spotted a few Tesla Cybertrucks. They may have come to show off at SXSW, where people who love new things gather.
The most eye-catching thing in Austin this year is the advertisement for the new series of sci-fi film “HALO” by Paramount+ on the wall of the Farimont Hotel. You may not have seen an advertisement of this size at SXSW so far. Paramount+ rents out a large three-story venue called CLIVE to hold original events.
As you can see, during SXSW, various companies are promoting themselves all over Austin. Audible built a Ferris wheel in a vacant lot in the city to attract customers.
In the center of Austin, which continues to grow rapidly, the construction of large buildings continues to boom. During the opening of SXSW2024, even more people gather from all over the world, so the city feels full of energy. As the middle of the event approaches, screenings of film works and exhibitions of VR content will also begin. That’s it for the opening of SXSW2024.
