TEAC Corporation will release the “MX D1606” rack-mount digital mixer for equipment under the TASCAM brand in late August 2023, which is being commercialized under the technical cooperation of JVC Kenwood Corporation and Public Industrial Systems. The suggested retail price is 495,000 yen including tax.
The MX-D1606 is a matrix mixer with 12 inputs/4 outputs and a USB audio interface function, equipped with faders. The MX-D1606 forms the core of sound systems for educational, conference rooms, and commercial facilities. It has been commercialized by reflecting the required specifications.
This product can transmit audio to up to four locations with their own volume balance. Equipped with a 60mm fader and various LEDs that allow you to instantly grasp the system status. In addition to a feedback suppressor, announcement muting, and music muting, DSP is also installed, and each output is equipped with 6-band output equalizers, delays, and other functions that are indispensable for equipment sound systems.
The dedicated software “TASCAM MX-D CONNECT” not only allows you to configure these built-in DSP settings, but also supports everything from system design to final adjustments at the construction site.

Functional panel design
The MX-D1606 is equipped with 60mm input/output faders that allow you to check the volume balance and troubleshoot immediately, and LEDs that allow you to check the input/output routing at a glance. Up to 16 types of presets can be stored in the main unit, and you can quickly switch to the sound system that matches your operation from the 4 patterns registered in the memory button.
Howling suppressor, automatic muting
The MX-D1606 can prevent howling in advance with a “preset filter” that detects and suppresses frequency points and levels where howling is likely to occur, and an “active filter” that suppresses the occurrence and growth of howling in real time.
In addition, “announcement muting” automatically attenuates the BGM source to provide a clear announcement environment, and when a signal is input to the specified stereo input, the other stereo inputs are automatically faded out, Equipped with “music muting” to clarify warning bells.
Adjustment/correction of loudspeaker suitable for the space
Each output of the MX-D1606 is equipped with a 6-band EQ. You can select either parametric / low cut filter / high cut filter / HIGH shelving / LOW shelving for each. In addition to standard EQ presets compatible with JVC Kenwood speakers, it is possible to make adjustments and corrections suitable for the installation location, such as a compressor for speaker protection and a delay that corrects the sound image localization in a wide space.
USB audio interface function
Equipped with a 2-input/2-output USB audio interface function. There is no need to install drivers on your computer, and you can build web conferences and presentation environments. Smooth design/
Control software
The free software “TASCAM MX-D CONNECT”, which allows you to configure and control the MX-D1606 from a Windows computer, supports offline and online editing. You can also import/export presets. It is also possible to centrally manage multiple MX-D1606 units on the same network, strongly supporting a series of workflows from system design to final on-site adjustments.
System construction with abundant external control
The MX-D1606 supports external control via Ethernet, RS-485, and REMOTE I/O. By designing a system that conforms to the protocol specifications published by TEAC, external control is possible even with dedicated software and optional products. The protocol specification will be published soon on the product web page (in Japanese).
