Nikon relocates its headquarters to Nishioi, Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo
Nikon will relocate its headquarters from Konan, Minato-ku, Tokyo to Nishioi, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, and will begin operations on July 29, 2024. The design of their new HQ with the goal of creating a rich and sustainable society in this place, where it has had its base for over 100 years and has produced a wide variety of products and services. The new Nikon Headquarters is located on the site where a former Nikon factory was located.

Creating synergies through functional consolidation
By consolidating the corporate division, the planning division of each business unit, and the advanced R&D division, Nikon aims to strengthen development functions and create synergies between businesses, leading to sustainable growth. In addition to consolidating the laboratories of each business on one floor, Nikon will provide ample space on each floor to foster communication and generate lively exchanges that transcend departmental boundaries.
Flexible response to diverse work styles
The building has been designed to accommodate diverse work styles. It is possible to work outside of desks, such as on the large staircase, in the dining area, or on the outdoor terrace. Based on the concept of Activity Based Working (ABW), each employee can autonomously choose where to work in order to maximize their performance in their work.
Environmentally friendly office building
By adopting an exterior design with excellent solar shading, the required energy for air conditioning is reduced, and the structure also has the function of introducing natural light into the room and promoting natural ventilation. Combined with the introduction of a variable air volume system according to the office’s operating status, the building as a whole has achieved significant energy savings, earning it “ZEB Ready” certification and six stars, the highest rank in the “BELS” building energy-saving performance labeling system. In addition to reducing energy consumption, the building also generates energy through solar power generation, creating an environmentally friendly office building.
