SAMYANG announced the release the V-AF 1.7x Anamorphic MF Adapter, an anamorphic lens that enables Cinemascope-size shooting with V-AF lenses, due out on July 19, 2024.
The SAMYANG V-AF 1.7x Anamorphic MF Adapter is a front conversion lens that enables shooting in Cinemascope size. The compatible lenses are the compact and lightweight “SAMYANG V-AF” Cine AF lens series. When combined with various T1.9 V-AF lenses, it provides the brightest anamorphic solution on the market. The extension ratio is 1.7x, achieving a ratio of 3:1, which is sufficient for Cinemascope size. It provides a wide frame with plenty of room for post-production.
In addition, for normal photography, a vast 2.55:1 panoramic effect is possible. The anamorphic adapter’s unique oval bokeh adds depth to the scene, while the amber flare creates a more natural aesthetic effect than the traditional blue flare.
In addition, the anamorphic MF adapter is equipped with a unique function called “soft focus mode,” which creates a creamy effect by deliberately blurring the image.

The anamorphic adapter’s unique elliptical bokeh adds depth to a scene and the amber flare provides a more natural aesthetic effect compared to traditional blue flare.

1.7x Anamorphic MF Adapter’s unique feature “Soft Focus Mode”
The Soft Focus mode creates a creamy effect by subtly blurring the image. This is quite useful for creating a dreamy atmosphere or giving the subject a soft look.
When a specific action is performed while connected to a V-AF lens, the soft focus mode is activated. Conventional anamorphic lenses have a soft focus function that uses a two-point focusing structure. This however requires a lot of precision. With V-AF, SAMYANG’s unique know-how has made it easy for anyone to use.
In MODE2, while pressing the focus hold button, rotate the focus ring on the adapter to the closest shooting position, and the V-AF LED will light up orange to activate the function. The soft effect can be adjusted by pressing the focus hold button.
