7Artisans announced the new 7Artisans 85mm F1.8 AF interchangeable lens. The suggested retail price is 63,800 yen including tax in Japan, approximately $450 US dollars.

The 7Artisans 85mm F1.8 AF is a Sony E-Mount large-aperture medium telephoto prime lens compatible with full-frame sensors. Its lens configuration consists of 10 elements in 7 groups, including ED lenses and high-refractive lenses. This lens achieves sharp, high-quality image from the center to the edges of the image.

The best light and focal length for portraits

The brightness of the maximum aperture of F1.8 creates a natural bokeh that beautifully highlights the subject, and effectively suppresses noise and blur even in dark environments such as at night or indoors. In addition, the focal length of 85mm keeps the camera at a moderate distance from the subject, making it particularly excellent for depicting people in portrait photography, wedding photos, street snaps, etc.

AF-compatible lenses that won’t let you miss the moment you want to capture

The STM (stepping motor) enables smooth autofocus. The motor is also quiet in operation, useful for video shooting. It also supports face/eye detection AF and various subject detection, making it possible to capture the subject’s facial expression and movement clearly.

Excellent operability

The aperture ring is a stepless type with no click feeling, so you can operate it without worrying about noise or blur even when shooting video. By setting the Fn custom button on the lens barrel from the camera body, you can call up various functions more quickly.
