SmallRig Japan Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as SmallRig) has begun pre-orders for two models of its iPad cage series: the “Cage for iPad Mini 6 and A17 Pro” and the “Cage for iPad” for screen sizes ranging from 8.3 inches to 13.0 inches.

- Universal cage for iPad: 19,290 yen (tax included)
The iPad Cage series includes two models: a dedicated model for the iPad Mini 6/A17 Pro (hereinafter referred to as MD5058) and a universal model for iPads (hereinafter referred to as MD5059). This allows you to use your iPad as a professional camera external monitor or desktop tablet. The MD5059 is compatible with iPads, iPad Minis, iPad Airs, and iPad Pros with screen sizes ranging from 8.3 inches to 13.0 inches (excluding the 9-inch 1st and 2nd generation models).
The cage fits snugly around your iPad, providing excellent protection without restricting access to the microphone, charging port or buttons.
In addition, a removable sun hood is included, making it comfortable to use outdoors. The back of the cage has a magnetic storage space for the Apple Pencil, making it convenient to carry around.
It also comes with a foldable desk stand, which is said to make operating the iPad even more comfortable.
The cage features a variety of accessory ports, including 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 threaded holes, a strap hole, a cold shoe mount, and a NATO rail.
This allows you to easily mount various accessories such as an NPF battery adapter, a mobile battery holder, an SSD holder, etc. You can also attach an iPad to the camera and use it as an external monitor.
In addition, by attaching a side handle (such as 3894 or 2981) to the cage, stability is improved when shooting with an iPad.
