Sony and the National Football League (NFL), the US professional American football league, will introduce a newly developed headset for NFL coaches starting from the 2025 season.
The product was developed to reflect the needs of NFL coaches under a technology partnership between the two companies that began in 2024, utilizing knowledge and technology gained from the development of Sony’s flagship wireless headphones, the 1000X Series.
Sony NFL Coaching Headset Features
Sony’s noise cancelling technology has earned the trust of many users through its 1000X series products. The noise cancelling technology played an important role in the development of this headset, which was specifically tailored for NFL communications. Tests were conducted under actual crowd noise levels of over 100 decibels, optimizing the noise cancelling algorithm for the stadium environment.
It also comes equipped with a specially designed microphone that isolates and emphasizes the coach’s voice, ensuring clear communication on the field at all times.

In addition to being designed to withstand harsh weather conditions such as rain and snow, as well as extreme heat and cold, the glasses have also been drop tested to ensure they are robust enough for the competitive environment. The ergonomic design also ensures a stable fit even when worn for long periods of time or in situations of intense movement.

The headsets are scheduled to be introduced to all 32 NFL teams in the 2025 season, improving the quality of sideline communications and enabling clear and reliable instantaneous transmission of tactics and strategies as the game progresses.
The device will also utilize Verizon Business’ Managed Private Wireless Solution via a wired beltpack.
“This initiative was made possible by the strong partnership between the two companies, combining their expertise in technology and on the field. With the introduction of this headset, Sony and the NFL say they will take their collaboration to the next level, bringing technological innovation to football.”
“As a head coach, communication with staff and players is paramount,” said Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur. “I’m extremely grateful to Sony for taking the time to understand our true needs. This headset has been designed with everything in mind, from clear voice transmission in the hustle and bustle of the stadium to comfort and reliability in tense situations. I’m looking forward to using this headset this season.
