DJI has announced their very first 360° camera, the Osmo 360. Two combo packs are available from the DJI store. Let’s go over some of the details of this camera in this article.

The DJI Osmo 360
The new DJI Osmo 360 supports 1-inch (approximately 2.54cm) 360° imaging, capturing crystal-clear footage that is among the best on the market. It is the first 360° camera to support ultra-high-spec 8K/50fps 360° video recording, and the only 360° camera capable of 100 minutes of continuous recording at 8K/30fps.
“DJI is excited to partner with NVIDIA to bring the power of drones to the market,” said Christina Zhang, Senior Director of Corporate Strategy at DJI.
“ With the new Osmo 360, DJI aims to redefine the 360-degree camera market.
Leveraging DJI’s many years of experience in creative camera technology, we are revolutionizing panoramic photography. From the industry’s first square HDR sensor enabling 1-inch 360-degree imaging to its excellent low-light performance, we aim to further expand the possibilities of 360-degree cameras with innovative technologies,” said Zhang.

Outstanding 1-inch 360° image quality and native 8K 360° video capture
Designed specifically for 360° capture, Osmo 360’s industry-first square HDR image sensor eliminates the unused area of a traditional 1-inch (approximately 2.54cm) rectangular sensor while retaining the same 360° image field. This improves sensor utilization by 25%, enabling superior image quality and low power consumption in an ultra-compact and lightweight camera body.
Osmo 360 is the first 360° camera to capture native 8K/30fps 360° panoramic video with large 2.4μm pixels. It also boasts the industry’s longest battery life of 100 minutes when shooting 8K/30fps. The large pixel size, twice the industry standard of 1.2μm, captures sharper details, reduces noise, provides excellent low-light performance, and delivers a higher dynamic range. Osmo 360 also supports ultra-high-spec 8K/50fps 360° video, setting a new standard for video specs for 360° cameras.
An impressive 13.5 stops of dynamic range, combined with the large pixel size and f/1.9 aperture, significantly increases light capture, allowing the Osmo 360 to capture clear, vibrant images even in low-light environments and high-contrast scenes like sunrise and sunset.
Other useful features
- Invisible Selfie Stick: The Osmo Invisible Selfie Stick disappears from your 360° video without editing, allowing you to capture third-person footage as if it were captured by a human cameraman.
- High Frame Rate Video: For those who want to capture momentary details at a high frame rate, the Osmo 360 also allows for 360° video recording at 4K/100fps.
- Slow Motion: Capture videos in up to 4x slow motion mode, allowing you to enjoy the most moving moments more fully.
- 120MP 360° Photos: Capture every detail in ultra-high definition 360° photos up to 120MP for that split second.
- Gesture and Voice Control: Start or stop recording with a simple palm gesture or use voice control to control the camera hands-free.
- HorizonSteady & RockSteady: With HorizonSteady enabled, the footage stays level no matter how much the camera rotates. In single-lens mode, RockSteady 3.0 effectively reduces camera shake, preserving the power of intense action and capturing immersive first-person perspective footage.
- Free Framing and Intelligent Tracking: DJI Mimo’s Free Framing feature allows you to compose your 360° footage using motion control, while Intelligent Tracking allows you to track people, vehicles, pets and more.
- Multi-platform editing support: Edit your videos in DJI Mimo or DJI Studio, which offers a complete toolset, or use the Premiere plugin to streamline your workflow and create amazing 360° videos.

Works as a single-lens action camera
Osmo 360 lets you easily switch between the front and rear lenses without stopping, making it perfect for capturing travel vlogs in one seamless take. In Single Lens Mode, it functions as a first-person action camera, capturing crisp 5K/60fps flat video at an ultra-wide 155° angle. In Boost Video Mode, it captures smooth 4K/120fps video with an even wider 170° field of view.

Easy to carry and long battery life
For creators who want to start shooting anytime, anywhere, the Osmo 360 prioritizes convenience and includes 105GB of built-in storage. The camera’s advanced stacked design also allows it to house two 1-inch 360 imaging lens modules in an ultra-compact body weighing just 183g.
Additionally, the Osmo 360 is designed for harsh environments, lasting over 1.5 hours in extreme cold conditions as low as -20°C. The battery lasts for 100 minutes at 8K resolution at 30fps, and can be extended by an additional 180 minutes with the Osmo 360 Battery Extension Rod.

And with the Osmo 360 reaching 50% power in just 12 minutes, you don’t have to worry about having to put the camera down for long periods of time to charge.
Increased convenience with the DJI ecosystem
The Osmo 360’s magnetic quick-release design is compatible with Osmo Action series accessories, and it also features a 1/4-inch (approximately 6.35 mm) screw hole, making it easy to attach to a variety of other gear.
The Osmo 360 supports direct microphone connection via OsmoAudio. This allows direct connection to two DJI microphone transmitters without a receiver, capturing studio-quality audio.
