Thypoch unveiled the newest “Ksana” Leica M-mount compatible rangefinder lens, the “Ksana 21mm f/3.5 ASPH.” The first in the Thypoch “Ksana” series, the 21mm f/3.5 ASPH., is a wide-angle lens that combines a classic look with retro image quality. Its lightweight aluminum alloy barrel makes it easy to carry around. Its retro design blends beautifully with Leica cameras.
What is the Thypoch Ksana 21mm f/3.5 ASPH
This lens uses a proprietary multi-coating called “Epoch Coating ’73.” The warm amber flare and light blur seen in Japanese optical lenses from the 1970s have been recreated using modern optical technology. While maintaining a high level of basic performance such as transmittance and backlight resistance, the lens is tuned to preserve the expression of light, giving the image a nostalgic and poetic atmosphere.
It combines the atmosphere of a classic lens with the stable imaging performance of a modern lens, bringing impressive individuality and creative inspiration to each and every shot.
The Thypoch Ksana 21mm f/3.5 ASPH comes available in two colors: black and silver.

Compact, Lightweight, Easy to Use
It is lightweight and compact, designed to be easily controlled. The lens weighs approximately 130g and measures just 27mm from the mount to the front edge, making it compact and easy to handle even during extended handheld shooting. It is convenient to store and carry, and its unobtrusive design makes it easy to handle during shooting. It is ideal for street photography, travel, events, and other photography situations that require mobility.
The lens pursues the creation of retro images drawn with modern craftsmanship, achieving high resolution while retaining the nuances of retro depiction. The optical system consists of 8 elements in 6 groups, and employs aspherical lenses, ED lenses, and high refractive index lenses that effectively suppress chromatic aberration and distortion.
Construction and MTF Diagram

The nine-blade aperture allows for sharp, crisp depiction of 18 rays of light at F4, and by combining retro flare with high image quality, it expands the range of photographic expression.
With a horizontal angle of view of 80.2° on a full-frame camera, it captures the spaciousness and rich three-dimensional feel that only a wide-angle lens can provide. The minimum focusing distance of 0.5m allows you to get close to the subject, creating a sense of depth and a strong three-dimensional effect.
The lens barrel features a classic design with a plum blossom motif on the focus ring. Combined with a crescent-shaped focus lever, it enhances operability. In addition to its appearance that harmonizes with Leica bodies, the contoured design follows the curves of the fingers, providing a comfortable grip and easy operation. Stable control is possible even with quick focusing.
With a minimum focusing distance of 0.5m, focusing with the rangefinder is possible. A slight resistance is provided at 0.7m on the focus ring, allowing users to intuitively grasp the distance at which they need to switch from rangefinder to live view mode.
