Tamron Corporation announced the release of the latest firmware update, version 3, for the Tamron 25-200mm F2.8-5.6 G2 lens for Sony E-mount. Users should download the update via the dedicated software ” TAMRON Lens Utility PC version.”
This lens firmware update will enable a maximum magnification ratio of “1:2 or greater (half-macro)” at focal lengths of 25-70mm. This will allow users to photograph subjects larger than ever before, enabling them to enjoy powerful close-up photography.
Tamron 25-200mm F2.8-5.6 G2 Update details (Ver. 3)
The maximum magnification ratio at focal lengths of 25-70mm has improved to 1:2, which is equivalent to half-macro or better.
Firmware Ver. 2 and earlier: Maximum magnification 1:3.1 (left photo) vs. Firmware Ver. 3: Maximum magnification 1:1.7 (right photo).
*With the 35-50mm lens, it is possible to shoot at a maximum magnification of 1:1.7, exceeding half-macro.
