Panasonic Corporation has announced new firmware updates for its LUMIX S-series, G-series and S-series lenses, available for download on the company’s support site.

Airplane and train recognition added to auto-detection AF
Compatible models: DC-S5M2/DC-S5M2X/DC-G9M2
Airplane and train recognition, which strongly supports the shooting of aircraft and trains, continuously recognizes the subject with high accuracy and allows for highly flexible framing. With airplane recognition, you can select the body or nose, and with train recognition, you can select the leading car or main part. Part selection has also been added to car and motorcycle recognition.
Multiple frame markers can be displayed

Up to three frames can be displayed simultaneously. The frame display aspect ratio can be maintained while zooming in and out and the display position can be changed.
Hybrid zoom/crop zoom support
Compatible models: DC-S5M2/DC-S5M2X/DC-G9M2 (crop zoom only)
Crop zoom cuts out the center of the image to achieve a telephoto effect without degrading image quality. Hybrid zoom combines optical zoom and crop zoom to enable high-magnification zooming by simply operating the zoom ring without changing the focal length at the wide-angle end. You can enjoy zoom photography easily.
Add MP4 (Lite)

MP4 (Lite) is a low bitrate video format that is ideal for sharing short videos on social media. Because the file size is small, the transfer speed is fast and editing work can be done more smoothly.
Support for LUMIX Lab Ver.1.3, a smartphone app for LUMIX

Compatible with Ver.1.3 of LUMIX Lab, which enables faster connection between the camera and smartphone and smoother sharing to social media. With a Bluetooth connection, you can use your smartphone as a shutter remote control to take photos and start and stop video recording.
In addition, the camera can be remotely controlled via Wi-Fi connection, and shooting can be performed while displaying the live view screen on the smartphone screen, and basic settings such as exposure and white balance, autofocus operation, photo shooting, video recording, etc. can also be performed from the smartphone.
