Panasonic announced the release of the 4K integrated camera, the AW-UE150AW/AK, in January 2025. The AW-UE150AW/AK inherits the high image quality of the company’s remote camera AW-UE150W/K, and shoots at the image quality required in video production sites and further improved operability.
Panasonic AW-UE150AW/AK Development Background
Recently, there has been an accelerating trend toward streamlining operations and improving workflows at broadcasting stations, video production companies, event shoots, and other video production sites. There is a demand for both system efficiency and high-quality video production, such as the adoption of remote production using IP-based systems.
In addition to this background, the trend towards downsizing on-site personnel and systems has led to an increasing trend in the adoption of remote cameras as one of the main cameras in video production. In light of this situation, we have developed the 4K integrated camera AW-UE150AW/AK as a new standard for remote cameras for professional use, in order to achieve even higher image quality and operability.
The AW-UE150AW/AK inherits the various functions of the 4K PTZ camera, the AW-UE150W/K, which has been widely adopted in professional settings since its release in 2018, and is equipped with new functions that realize the image quality and operability that have been required in recent years. It supports NDI High Bandwidth as standard, improving its compatibility with remote production systems, and based on feedback from users, it has improved the simultaneity of pan/tilt/zoom, suppressed moiré by installing an optical low-pass filter, and supports R/G/Y 3-color tally, achieving functionality that can be used in conjunction with studio cameras.
Features
The AW-UE150AW/AK is equipped with a high-sensitivity 1.0-type sensor. The wide dynamic range, which was also evaluated in the previous model AW-UE150W/K, allows you to capture high-quality images with smooth gradation expression. In addition, the simultaneity of pan, tilt, and zoom when using presets, and the improved performance of the optical image stabilization (OIS), which corrects image shake during panning and tilting with an internal mechanism, have made it possible to perform camera work that is even smoother and more natural.
In addition, the inclusion of an optical low-pass filter suppresses the occurrence of brightness/color moiré when re-photographing a monitor or LED wall.
It is also compatible with the Panasonic remote operation panel, AK-HRP1010, which enables the same color grading control as studio cameras. Addtionally, this control enables tally display in the three colors R/G/Y, which are frequently used in the broadcasting industry. These controls make it a remote camera that is even easier to use in conjunction with studio cameras.
Interfaces
For the interfaces, the Panasonic AW-UE150AW/AK supports video output via 12G-SDI, 3G-SDI (2 systems), HDMI, IP, and Fiber, allowing it to be flexibly incorporated into a variety of on-site systems. As for IP transmission standards, it comes standard with NDI High Bandwidth, which allows for the transmission of 4K video with low latency, and also supports various protocols such as SRT, which is resistant to unstable network environments and has strong security.
It is also possible to compactly build a system for remote production by connecting to remote locations or for live streaming using streaming services.
The AW-UE150AW/AK 4K integrated camera, which provides the image quality and operability to meet the needs of professionals, is set to become a new standard in broadcasting and video production sites, contributing to the achievement of both high-quality video shooting and production, as well as improved work efficiency and workflow.
