Blackmagic Design announced the URSA Cine 12K LF Body-Only model, which has all the quality and features of the URSA Cine 12K but without many of the accessories. The suggested retail price is $6,995. It is ideal for experienced cinematographers and rental companies who already own the accessories necessary to rig a camera.
Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF Body Only Model Features
The camera body is a full-featured model with no limitations in quality or performance, but it does not come with accessories such as shoulder mounts, handles, some lens mounts, battery plates, power supplies, lenses, a large capacity 8TB media module, etc. Users can purchase these items separately as needed to complete a complete camera system with their preferred configuration.
This model does not include the 8TB media module, but does include the new CFexpress media module with two CFexpress card slots. Also, the Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF body model comes standard with an EF lens mount, with other lens mounts available for purchase separately if needed.
The Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K body model is perfect for existing Blackmagic Design camera customers to upgrade to the camera’s high quality large format 12K sensor with color science based on DaVinci Resolve workflows and designed for high quality film production and Blackmagic Cloud workflows.
The new Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF body model is cheaper when purchased alone, but has all the same features as the full kit model, and the specifications are the same as the higher-end URSA Cine camera kit.
It has the same 12K large format RGBW 36x24mm sensor as the other models, the same large photosites for 16 stops of dynamic range, the same interchangeable PL, LPL and EF lens mounts, and the same industry standard Lemo and Fischer connections. It comes with an EF lens mount as standard, but PL and LPL lens mounts can also be purchased if required.
Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K includes dual CFexpress media modules for using industry standard CFexpress cards that are synced to the Blackmagic Cloud and accessible via the 10G Ethernet connector on the back of the camera. If required, a higher performance 8TB media module can also be purchased.
Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design, commented on the release:
When we launched URSA Cine 12K, many people told us they already had all the accessories for feature filmmaking and only wanted to buy the camera body, and in fact, URSA Cine was designed to be compatible with all the most popular filmmaking accessories.
But what’s even better is that it also gives customers a great upgrade path for our Blackmagic Design cameras. We didn’t develop this model as an upgrade because people don’t like to get rid of their old cameras and replace them, so we made the unit affordable so you can upgrade and still benefit from the quality and performance of the URSA Cine platform!
