Sigma announced the upcoming release of the full-frame mirrorless camera, “Sigma BF” in April 2025. The suggested retail price is to be determined, however the price on the company’s online store in Japan is listed as 385,000 yen.
About the SIGMA BF
The Sigma BF is a camera that is close to the photographer, captures the beauty hidden in the everyday, and can sometimes be a trigger to notice that beauty. It is a full-frame mirrorless camera that focuses on the joy of “taking pictures” that a camera can provide, stripping away all elements to make the shooting process as natural as possible.
The unique user interface, mounted on a seamless true unibody, provides intuitive operation with pressure-sensitive haptic buttons and dials. The high-definition expressiveness of the approximately 24-megapixel full-size sensor and the reliable hybrid autofocus system realize the photographer’s vision.
A simple, clear and completely new user interface
The camera is equipped with a user interface with a completely new information structure compared to conventional digital cameras, with the main settings related to shooting stored on the live view screen, secondary settings in the options menu, and management functions and detailed settings stored in the system menu.
Important shooting elements such as shutter speed, aperture value, ISO sensitivity, exposure compensation, and color mode can be easily controlled with just a single finger, and when combined with the auto setting, it also covers the functions of a typical shooting mode dial.
Clear live view and status monitor
The default Live View screen shows only the minimum necessary information, and you can change the display settings to show no information at all. The currently selected items are displayed on the status monitor, so you can focus on the composition and subject of the shot on the Live View screen.
Minimal operation and haptics
All operations are concentrated in three buttons, one dial, the shutter button, and the power button. The dial and three buttons (center, options, playback) are the first mirrorless camera to use haptics. Since there is no physical wear, you can always operate it with precision and comfort.
Unibody Construction of the Sigma BF
The camera employs a seamless true unibody structure, a first in camera history. This design achives an unprecedented sense of rigidity. Each body is carved out of an aluminum ingot, taking seven hours to create, and provides a comfortable weight and a sense of unity with the lens.
Built-in storage
The camera has a built-in storage of 230GB. At the highest image quality setting, it can store over 14,000 JPEG images, over 4,300 RAW images, and over 2.5 hours of video. The USB-C port supports high-speed charging and data transfer.
Various color modes
It comes with 13 color modes that expand the scope of expression, ranging from distinctive teal and orange, powder blue, and warm gold to rich and calm modes that offer both creativity and versatility.
Advanced autofocus
The hybrid autofocus system, using state-of-the-art algorithms, combines image-plane phase detection AF and contrast AF to capture the subject accurately and reliably. In subject detection mode, it can detect not only people, but also dogs and cats.
Video shooting (6K, L-Log)
The Sigma BF supports high-definition 6K video shooting and L-Log recording. This makes it possible to produce videos that take advantage of the wide dynamic range unique to full-size sensors.
Adopts L mount
The lens mount used in the Sigma BF is the L-mount. L-Mount cameras allow compatibility with a wide range of mirrorless lenses from Sigma, as well as interchangeable lenses from manufacturers that are members of the L-mount alliance.
