TASCAM FR-AV2 portable field recorder/time code generator released

TASCAM announced the release of the FR-AV2 32-bit float compatible 2ch portable field recorder/time code generator and the AK-BT2 Bluetooth adapter on October 1, 2024.

The TASCAM FR-AV2 has a built-in generator function that acts as the master for time code synchronization between devices, making it possible to build a synchronization system without the need for external equipment. In addition, it supports input and output with other time code devices, realizing a seamless time code synchronization system. For audio monitoring, wireless headphones can be used via Bluetooth connection. In addition, it is equipped with a dual A/D converter and supports 32-bit float recording. It achieves both distortion-free recording at a sampling frequency of up to 192kHz and compact size.

The FR-AV2 is an all-in-one audio recording solution for videographers, combining functionality, sound quality, and mobility to handle a wide range of recording applications in video production for movies, dramas, news, weddings, events, etc.

The “FR-AV2” is equipped with a dual ADC function that achieves a wide dynamic range. It supports 32-bit float recording, which allows you to maintain resolution even when adjusting the volume during editing, and allows you to record without distortion without the need for troublesome gain settings. Its robust body and compact size that fits in the palm of your hand ensure the mobility required for recording sites, while supporting high-quality recording with a sampling frequency of up to 192 kHz.

Supports audio monitoring with wireless headphones

By using the optional Bluetooth adapter “AK-BT2”, you can record while remotely monitoring the recorded sound using Bluetooth-compatible wireless headphones/earphones. You can record with peace of mind even in environments where wired monitoring is not possible.

In addition, by using the free remote control app “TASCAM RECORDER CONNECT”, you can remotely control up to five “FR-AV2” or TASCAM’s lavalier microphone recorder “DR-10L Pro” from a mobile device at the same time. In addition to individual operations such as transport control and recording settings, you can also start and stop recording on all connected units at once.

Flexible Timecode Sync Solutions

Equipped with a timecode generator function, it can input and output timecode with DSLR cameras and other timecode synchronization devices. It is possible to synchronize timecode between devices without using external equipment. Equipped with a high-precision TCXO (temperature compensated crystal oscillator), it also supports high-precision synchronization with jam sync. In addition, by using the separately sold Bluetooth adapter “AK-BT2”, wireless timecode synchronization with Atomos UltraSync BLUE is also possible.
