Inter BEE 2024 marks two years since the PRONEWS Global project launched. Being there from day 1, seeing where we started to where we are now, I look at our growth with immense pride. 5000+ YouTube subscribers, 1,400 instagram followers, and one massive, diverse, truly global community here in Japan and all over the world.
I speak for the rest of the team when I say we are truly grateful for all the readers and watchers of PRONEWS Global content since we started up. I want to also give my sincere gratitude to our PRONEWS Japan team colleagues, who support us with even our most trying, annoying requests. Having a team backing an idea like PRONEWS Global for over two years is what makes it a success.
A personal journey for the last two years
Aside from my own opinions when reviewing gear myself, I always approach the news of this industry with an open mind and with a willingness to learn. I do have to interject my own personal feelings into this article, however.
I always have approached the PRONEWS mission with a neutral, apolitical mindset. From the outset, I wrote up a styleguide for our teammates to go by when contributing articles, and that has helped us shape a diverse partnership network with both creatives and makers. This apolitical mindset, for me, is honestly the most I have learned about being diplomatic in my own personal life. Not just learning much more in the last year about cameras, lenses, and all that goes into the construction, but how to approach conflict, differing mindsets, and problem solving in general.
How I entered into this industry and how I am growing in this industry
I got started in this industry almost 10 years ago, beginning as a YouTuber, and transitioning to a professional videographer and producer. From this project, however, I have leveled myself up to being more of a professional when it comes to this gear we report on. Thanks to a ¥6,000 Pentax ME film camera, and thanks to the Nikon Zf review I did in January, I fell back in love with photography, and took great lengths to learn more of the high tech side of these cameras.
Compared to last year at Inter BEE, I found myself this year being able to ask makers more detailed and concise questions that would bring out more technical intricacies of the gear. That’s a level of growth by an order of magnitude. I will strive in the next year of PRONEWS Global to continue to immerse myself in this industry, and learn more from all of the experts who trust us.
Going Forward for two more years of PRONEWS Global
One of the biggest focuses for the next year on this platform will be the continued building of our community. In particular, Tokyo Creative Collective (TCC) events will be coming more. Bryant, our leading producer who doesn’t often appear on camera, has put an enormous amount of energy into these events. We want all of you who can come to these TCC events to come on out and meet us. Meet us, and meet likeminded colleagues.
Additionally, I personally look forward to reviewing more gear, not just from Nikon but from all of the other makers too. I know some of the makers I talked to this week are reading this and have proposed lending us gear to review. Don’t be shy about hitting us up if you have particular ideas or focus points for a review! It would be our pleasure to go through and test things out to the T. Our network of professionals is vast.
Thanks once again for all your support this year! See you at the next TCC event, and the next major convention for us here in Japan – CPPlus!
