Mitomo provides a wide range of support from selling video equipment to setting up studios, and is exhibiting Pixotope’s virtual system at Inter BEE 2024. Pixotope is a Norway-based company that was founded in 2013, so it is a relatively young company, but the tracking system that is most important in building a virtual system is the system from Germany-based TrackMen, whose track record has been highly praised around the world for about 20 years.
Users can build a system to suit their needs using a variety of tracking methods, including mechanical, marker-based, and optical measurement using TTL. The system exhibited at the booth was set up as an optical camera tracking system using TTL, and although a camera mounted on a pan head was used for the exhibit, a handheld camera could also be used, allowing for a wide range of presentations.
The exhibit was set up to resemble a small-scale virtual studio, constructed in XR with a panel on the back instead of a green screen, and a highly accurate tracking system created a smooth virtual space in sync with the camera’s movements. As a general trading company for video, Mitomo’s strength is that they can consistently handle everything from designing and setting up virtual studios of a scale tailored to demand, to training.
Speaking of education, Pixotope is currently working on a special initiative for virtual production aimed at educational institutions. Educational institutions that adopt Pixotope’s virtual system will be provided with virtual production software free of charge for a limited time. This reflects Pixotope’s desire to spread the fusion of virtual and real world concepts to the world, and their desire to nurture and develop many young creators. If you are considering adopting a virtual system at your educational institution, please contact Mitomo.
And while it’s just a reference exhibit, the AI keyer is on display alongside the Pixotope. Please come to the venue to check out how it works too.
