The opening of CP+ 2024 is finally approaching. CP+ 2024, held in Yokohama, is one of the most important events of the year here in Japan, where guests can see and try out the latest cameras and lenses. This year, many overseas manufacturers who refrained from exhibiting last year will be exhibiting. The number of exhibitors has increased to about twice that of 2023. Among the large number of exhibitors, what we would like to draw your attention to is the number of new products exhibited by major manufacturers. Here, we will introduce some CP+ 2024 camera maker booths that are of interest to exhibit new products, exhibit predictions, along with editorial staff’s recommendations.

Sony’s experience corner is where you can take pictures of fast-moving subjects such as BMX, breaking, and fencing with the global shutter “α9 III” and “FE 300mm F2.8 GM OSS.” Additionally, a set will be made where users can use the new VLOGCAM to take brilliant photos and videos. There will also be workshops where guests can learn how to use a camera and how to shoot directly from photographers and video creators, such as Mika Ninagawa, Seiya Nakai, Tadashi Shimada, and LiSA.

Canon will showcase popular cameras, including the “EOS R6 Mark II,” “EOS R8,” and “EOS R50.” Expect further news from Canon, such as the announcement of new products for the EOS R system.
Inside the booth, there will be (1) Touch & Try Corner, (2) Presentation Stage, (3) Photo Booth, (4) Lecture Booth, and (5) Video Creators Round. The Video Creators Lounge is planned to be a place for creators to display equipment and interact.

Nikon prepared a corner where guests can experience the best possible subjects to experience the appeal of each product, such as the Nikon Z8, Nikon Zf, NIKKOR Z 135mm f/1.8 S Plena, and other super telephoto lenses. In addition, there will be a history exhibition of NIKKOR lenses, stages by popular photographers and video creators active in various genres, videos taken by stage performers, a large high-definition LED video device where you can view photo works, and a gallery exhibit. Guests can also enjoy the world of photos and videos expressed by the high-performance “Z Mount System.”

At the LUMIX booth, Panasonic is planning a touch & try, seminar stage, workshop, and gallery.
There are two Touch & Try. One is the hands-on counter (no advance reservations required), where users can thoroughly experience the cameras and lenses installed on the desk, and in addition, guests can try out the actual depiction by photographing a model. (If you bring your card, you can take your photo data home with you.)
The other is the Photo Walk (advance reservations available. First-come, first-served spots available on the day), where guests can experience taking photos at locations outside the venue. Guests can also try your hand at model photography and receive advice from up-and-coming photographers.
On February 21st, the “Eve Festival” will be streamed live on Instagram. On the eve of the opening of CP+2024, we introduced the highlights of the LUMIX booth at the Pacifico Yokohama venue, which had just been completed. We will be the first to introduce touch and try experiences and exhibits that can be experienced at the LUMIX booth, as well as the highlights of the 4-day seminar, etc. through live streaming.
The content will be streamed live from 17:30 to 18:00 on Wednesday, February 21st from the LUMIX official Instagram account.

At CP+ 2024, the “OM SYSTEM OM-1 Mark II” and “M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 150-600mm F5.0-6.3 IS” lenses announced on January 30th, OM SYSTEM’s latest mirrorless single-lens cameras will be showcased. The OM SYSTEM booth will also feature a real stage again for the first time in five years. They will hold many talk shows with popular photographers who use OM SYSTEM.
An online event (in Japanese only) will also be held.

NANLITE will be exhibiting their new 500W studio lights: the “FC-500B” and “FC-300B.” These lights won the Gold Award for PRONEWS AWARD 2023. At this year’s Sigma booth, guests can try out the latest lens lineup, including the featured product “70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS | Sports.” In the product experience corner, they have lenses compatible with L, Sony E, Fujifilm X, and Nikon Z mounts. They will also have an “L-mount corner” where guests can try out our camera “FP” series, as well as L-mount products that work with Leica, Panasonic, DJI, and Blackmagic Design 6K cameras.

TAMRON will collaborate with BMW & MINI Racing at their booth. The booth will display the latest lenses, as well as the racing cars like the “BMW M2 CS Racing” and “New MINI JCW CHALLENGE EVO” that were actually used in races in the 2023 racing season. In addition, they will hold a “special talk show” with two champion drivers of the BMW & MINI Racing 2023 season, a BMW & MINI Racing photography ambassador, and an SNS campaign where guests can win guest tickets to watch the BMW & MINI Racing 2024 season.

■ RED Digital Cinema
RED’s “V-Raptor[X]” large format compatible global shutter camera will be exhibited for the first time in Japan. As for camera accessories, the booth will have the “intime Pro-M” which was well received at Inter BEE 2023, the “Aspen Ballhead” which was also well received at last year’s CP+, and the newly available DZOFILM CINE lens and Thypoch lens.

At the ATOMOS booth, they will focus on the new “NINJA”, “NINJA ULTRA”, “SHOGUN”, and “SHOGUN ULTRA.” These will not only feature the advantages of conventional monitor recorders, but also real-time video transmission using networks and NDI, and video streaming in the cloud. An exhibition will be held where guests can experience the shared workflow. Seminars by popular instructors will also be held at the booth.

Exhibited products include the CFexpress Type A memory card “NX-A1PRO/NX-A1SE,” the new CFexpress Type B memory cardt “NX-B2SE,” the new CFexpress Type B card reader, UHS-II SDXC card “NX-F2PRO/ NX-F2SE,” along with the portable SSD “NX-P2SE.” On the stage inside the booth, popular photographers and videographers will be invited to give seminars on understanding and utilizing card characteristics and demonstrating high-speed continuous shooting. There will also be photo session time for dance shots and other events where visitors can freely take photos.

GODOX’s Japanese distributor and product maker Kenko Professional Imagine will jointly display. Products include the V1 PRO strobe, the Meyer Optik manual lens made in germany, and the ARCA-Swiss Gear Heads, along with a wide range of LED lights and other GODOX gear.
■ TEAC TASCAM
TASCAM’s booth will showcase video and audio recorders and microphone-related products. In addition to the new DR-10L Pro, a pin microphone recorder that supports 32-bit float recording and timecode synchronization, and the Portacapture series multi-track audio recorder. This allows standard microphones used in professional settings to be used with the camera. Also exhibited will be the CA-XLR2d XLR microphone adapter. “CA-XLR2d” was created in collaboration with camera manufacturers.
