According to Blackmagic Design, leading Spanish leasing company GRENKE Spain is producing unique corporate content in a multicam live production workflow based around Blackmagic URSA Broadcast G2 and Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro.
Madrid-based GRENKE Spain and advertising agency Super-Web commissioned EVT Producciones to build and produce GRENKE Spain’s broadcast-style hybrid event. EVT technical director Carlos Morata commented:
Morata: Hybrid is the new normal for companies looking to connect with partners, customers and employees. It has enormous potential. But creating an experience that transcends the physical element presents challenges, both creatively and technologically.
Each event was produced using an ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K live production switcher temporarily installed in a nearby conference room, with program feeds fed via vMix using DeckLink 8K Pro capture and playback cards. Uploaded to YouTube in 1080p.
Also, two DeckLink Mini Monitor 4Ks are used to monitor the broadcast output from vMix and two DeckLink Mini Recorder 4Ks are used to mix the chromakey signal.
Morata: Chroma keying background graphics to the camera feed is very intuitive. In one of the streams, we captured two guests having coffee and conversing at a small table in front of a green screen, made some minor adjustments, and overlayed a live background of one of Madrid’s famous squares. .
For our main studio shoot, we typically use three cameras, two Blackmagic URSA Broadcast G2s and one Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro.
Morata: We have two URSAs on each side of the set and Blackmagic Studio Cameras for wide shots. Another studio with a green screen uses two 4K Blackmagic Studio Cameras.
The studio doesn’t get a lot of natural light, so we installed multiple LED light panels from FalconEyes on either side of the set. I was worried that the image would be underexposed, but with the added lighting and the dual native ISO of the Blackmagic Studio Camera, I was able to get very smooth skin tones and clean results.
All cameras are remotely monitored by a single ATEM Camera Control Panel via SDI, and multiple HyperDeck Studio HD Mini broadcast decks record HD streams and switcher program outputs. Similarly, all cameras are recorded individually on each camera using Blackmagic RAW.
Morata: Being able to hand over the camera’s original media after live production is extremely beneficial. This allows Super-Web to produce highlight and to-the-point videos in the highest possible quality.
Using Blackmagic Design technology and upgrading our workflow gave us a very solid technical footing. This not only allows us to shoot broadcast-ready content in 4K in a variety of formats, but also allows us to continue to fully support our clients’ creativity.
