RED DIGITAL CINEMA is showcasing its latest innovations, including RED Connect, at this year’s NAB Show 2023. The V-RAPTOR and V-RAPTOR XL camera systems are ready to deliver full-resolution live R3D video streaming, enabling productions with RED from cinema, virtual production and broadcast to live events and sports. The latest information on RED will be available throughout the NAB Show exhibit.
B&H (booth #C8317)
Live Cinematic 8K in partnership with RED, HP and NVIDIA
Demonstrating real-time 8K live output on R3D with a unique RED Connect live 8K workflow. With the just released RED Connect module for V-RAPTOR cameras, you will be able to stream RAW R3D files in real time. For the workstation, use “HP Z8 Fury G5” equipped with the latest NVIDIA RTX 6000. It can decode the stream and send live 8K footage to an 8K display.
Eliminate the computing platform you needed
RED Connect works with SNS/EVO storage servers to transcode R3D files into proxy codecs, giving non-linear editing platforms direct access to transcoded media. This eliminates the need for traditional computing platforms and enables a unique workflow for instant media networking environments and efficient on-set workflows.
Magic Box (Booth #C8045)
Interactive experience inside the world’s first mobile virtual production “Superstudio” with RED, Adobe, Pixela, SISU Cinema Robotics, DrivingPlates.com, Magicbox
Inside a unique mobile LED volume, visitors can experience a car scene or a train scene setup. Footage is captured by a RED KOMODO camera mounted on the SISU camera robot and sent directly from the camera to the cloud using Adobe’s integrated software. Participants instantly receive a message with a link to download a mini-movie of the edited, shareable experience.
Microsoft (Booth #W1529)
RED Connect and RED Connect Module Showcase
RED is also working with Meta’s Open Video Pipeline (OVP) and Microsoft to create an end-to-end live 8K60P streaming system for Meta Quest users. It is possible to provide live streaming content producers with image quality and ease of use.
A free open source reference, OVP eliminates the need to use third-party cloud video infrastructure platforms for quality-reducing processing and packaging, providing a complete end-to-end signal for 8K60P+ live video streaming. Provide flow design. By working with Microsoft, OVP will be able to leverage the scalability, security and reliability of the cloud to deliver high-quality video streams to end users.
A leader in digital cinema capture, RED’s V-RAPTOR, V-RAPTOR XL, KOMODO, and recently released RED V-RAPTOR S35 camera systems are available from B&H, ProTech (#C5350), Videndum (#C5817), and many others. Introduced at the partner booth.
Launched last month, the new V-RAPTOR 8K S35 and V-RAPTOR XL 8K S35 feature RED’s new S35 sensor and have the same fast cinematic quality sensor scan times as the 8K VV. It is twice as fast as the previous generation and still maintains dynamic range covering 16.5+ stops and super 35mm lenses. The V-RAPTOR XL 8K S35 also includes RED’s new integrated electronic ND system.
