In addition, remote management via Ethernet is also possible. Conversion from 3G-SDI to and from 3G-SDI can be performed simultaneously on the same unit, so various types of equipment can be handled. All you need to do is add a Blackmagic 2110 IP Converter 3x3G to your live production switchers, disk recorders, playback servers, distribution processors and more. Using multiple small converters can lead to messy wiring, but the Blackmagic 2110 IP Converter 3x3G is rack mountable and has an LCD on the front panel so you can change settings from the panel at any time. A front panel LCD lets you monitor live video for all input and output channels. The LCD also supports network diagnostic tools to help diagnose problems in complex ST 2110-based IP broadcast systems. The Blackmagic 2110 IP Converter 3x3G features 3 3G-SDI outputs and 3 3G-SDI inputs with loop output. Moreover, the 10G Ethernet connection supports 3 input and 3 output channels simultaneously. It also has a 100-240V AC power supply and PoE+ on the 10G Ethernet port, so you don’t need a power brick.
The Blackmagic 2110 IP Converter 3x3G is compliant with the IP video standard SMPTE ST 2110. SMPTE ST 2110 is a standard that defines the transmission, synchronization and definition of video, audio and ancillary data broadcast over IP networks. In addition, the SDI input can be resynchronized to the PTP clock.
The Blackmagic 2110 IP Converter 3x3G’s 3G-SDI connection supports both SD and HD video formats. This allows existing SDI broadcast equipment to be connected to the new IP-based infrastructure. SD supports both 525i59.94 and 625i50 formats. HD supports any 720p video up to 720p60, any 1080 interlaced format up to 1080i60, and any 1080p format up to 1080p60. Each converter channel is completely independent and instantly switches to a new video format, no complicated switching required.
Blackmagic Design CEO Grant Petty commented:
Equipped with 10G Ethernet, each converter supports a total of 3 input and 3 output channels. That means you can have up to 9 independent input/output channels in a 1U rack with 3 in a rack shelf.
The SDI loop output makes it easy to integrate IP video into your existing SDI system, so you can use SDI and IP systems at the same time!
DeckLink IP HD
Blackmagic Design will launch DeckLink IP, a new series of PCIe cards in June 2023 that will enable direct capture and playback of 10-bit uncompressed broadcast quality video on ST 2110 based IP broadcast systems. The lineup and suggested retail prices are as follows.
- DeckLink IP HD : $345
- DeckLink IP HD Optical : $345
- DeckLink IP/SDI HD : $395
The DeckLink IP card is the easiest solution for direct video capture and playback on ST 2110-based IP broadcast systems. It supports the same functions as other DeckLinks, so it can be used with existing software. It can generate broadcast graphics and virtual sets, build server racks for GPU-based AI image processing, and integrate directly into ST 2110-based IP broadcast infrastructure.
DaVinci Resolve can also be used as an editing workstation for ST 2110-based IP broadcast. DeckLink IP supports high-speed PCIe connections so it can be used with the latest Mac Pro, Windows and Linux computers.
DeckLink IP cards comply with the IP video standard SMPTE ST 2110. SMPTE ST 2110 is a standard that defines the transmission, synchronization and definition of video, audio and ancillary data broadcast over IP networks. DeckLink IP supports SMPTE-2110-20 uncompressed video, SMPTE-2110-21 traffic shaping/timing, SMPTE-2110-30 audio and SMPTE-2110-40 ancillary data. A big advantage of SMPTE 2110 is that all video, audio and ancillary data are transmitted separately over the network.
DeckLink IP also supports multicast. This makes it a highly efficient way to send video, audio and ancillary data from a single source to multiple destinations.
DeckLink IP cards are designed for the highest quality video. In addition to widely used video formats such as Apple ProRes and DNxHD, it also supports 10-bit uncompressed capture and playback, so you are not limited to one file format. 10-bit is the most widely used format for television because it can represent colors with four times the accuracy of 8-bit video. With 10-bit uncompressed video, every image is a pixel-perfect copy of the source, so you always work with the highest quality. This means razor-sharp green screen keying, seamless VFX compositing, and superior color correction.
Blackmagic Design CEO Grant Petty said:
Many developers have requested a solution that allows them to directly capture and play back 10-bit uncompressed video on ST 2110 based IP broadcast systems.
A very exciting feature of DeckLink IP is that it provides a secure video network. The framebuffer acts like a firewall for your video, protecting your network from malicious software and hackers. In short, DeckLink IP enables developers to build highly secure ST 2110-based IP video networks.
ATEM 4 M/E Constellation 4K
Blackmagic Design will also release a new Ultra HD model of the ATEM Constellation series, called the “ATEM 4 M/E Constellation 4K.” It is due to be released in June 2023. The suggested retail price is $8,995.
