DJI implemented a “dual control mode” that can control the aircraft using two transmitters (DJI RC Pro) in the special firmware for DJI Mavic 3 Classic. The updated firmware is now available through DJI distributors.
With the implementation of this function, the DJI Mavic 3 Classic can be used with in-flight training at a training institution. If the student is operating with one transmitter (set to ATTI mode) and the aircraft falls into a dangerous flight situation, the instructor will Using the transmitter (with all position stabilization functions enabled), the aircraft is braked and hovered, and safe training operations are possible, such as immediately changing control while the position stabilization function is enabled.
Functions of dual control mode (overview)
- 1. When two remote controllers are connected to the aircraft, the first remote controller connected to the aircraft will be given control of the aircraft.
- 2. While controlling the aircraft with a remote controller that has control rights, you can (1) tap the remote controller switch icon on the DJI Fly app or A short press of the ‘s Flight Pause button will cause the aircraft to brake and hover, allowing you to take control of the aircraft. At this time, the settings of the transmitter that has acquired control rights will be applied to control the aircraft.
- 3. In this mode, if one remote controller loses connection with the aircraft, the other remote controller will be instructed to choose whether or not to take over control. At this time, if the handover of control rights is not selected or the selection operation is not performed within a certain period of time, all transmitters will lose connection with the aircraft. Implemented fail-safe functions automatically avoid hazards in pre-configured ways, such as automatic return to the home point.
