Boris FX announced that they acquired SynthEyes from Andersson Technologies LLC. The acquisition builds on the company’s commitment to providing best-in-class plug-ins and applications for feature film, streaming and broadcast post-production.
SynthEyes’ standalone 3D tracking application allows VFX artists to augment complex 3D sets, place CG characters into scenes, and animate them using motion capture. In its 20-year history, SynthEyes has produced blockbuster hits such as “Black Panther,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Pan’s Labyrinth,” and “King Kong.” It has also been used in popular episodes such as “Foundation” and “Stranger Things”.
Boris FX Suite offers an end-to-end solution with creative editing, audio, visual effects, planar tracking, motion design and compositing tools. Featuring Sapphire, Continuum, Mocha Pro, Silhouette, Optics, CrumplePop and SynthEyes.
I am fascinated by the technical sophistication and precision with which Dr. Russell Anderson tackled one of the most difficult problems in modern post-production: 3D camera resolution, Boris Yamnsky, CEO and Founder of Boris FX, commented. SynthEyes’ speed and accuracy, object tracking, and ability to handle complex lens distortions make it the perfect complement to the Boris FX Suite. Thousands of users around the world will benefit from this amazing technology in their daily work.
“After 20 years of service to the broader visual effects community, we are excited to start a new chapter under the trusted Boris FX brand,” Dr. Anderson, Founder and Founder of SynthEyes (Anderson Technologies LLC) said. “Many of our artists already trust Boris FX products to work on both visible and invisible visual effects. We can’t wait to bring together our dedicated development team to move SynthEyes forward.”
FuseFX artists say they are leveraging Sapphire and Mocha Pro with SynthEyes in their pipeline.
Jonathan Banta, DFX Supervisor at FuseFX, commented:
“I have been using SynthEyes since 2005 in many high end and award winning shows. It’s the heart of my digital makeup and photogrammetry pipeline. Pixel tracking is the most important part of any visual effect. Syntheyes has never disappointed me.”
Dr. Anderson will continue his leadership role as Boris FX seeks to develop and market the SynthEyes 3D camera resolution tracking tool as a proprietary application and leverage 3D technology across the company’s product brands.
SynthEyes demo by Boris FX will be on display at the Dell booth (Hall 7.A60) at IBC (Amsterdam, Netherlands) from Friday, September 15 to Monday, September 15, 2023 .
