Mr. Ding will be exhibiting at CP+ 2024 in Yokohama, Japan. MR.DING is a company based in Guangzhou, China that has been supplying OEM supplies to long-established lens manufacturers. In 2022, Leica fan and design engineer, company president Ding, launched his own brand, focusing on products inspired by old Leica M lenses.
The MR. DING Noxlux DG 50mm F1.1 E58 II uses a double Gauss design. The lens configuration has 8 elements in 6 groups, effectively reducing the effects of spherical aberration. Using lanthanum glass, it has high refractive index and low dispersion properties, making it easy to control light. It has low chromatic dispersion, avoids chromatic aberration, and maintains image realism.
The large aperture of F1.1 is said to demonstrate its performance not only in dark places but also in various shooting situations. The image quality is natural and reproduces the descriptive quality of an old lens. We focused on operability, and the aperture ring has a click stop, and the focus ring is linked to a rangefinder, making for smooth yet slightly tight adjustment. A metal lens hood and lens cap are also included, and the filter diameter is 58mm.

Photographer Vincent Bihler commented:
You may find lenses that are sharper than this one, or smaller and faster. But for me, this is a beautifully thought-out gem that has all the necessary parameters for photography in the right place and, when used properly, can produce great results. I like that it is multi-functional and can express images in three dimensions.
