ARRI has announced a new generation of LED Fresnels, the L-Series Plus. Up to 90% brighter than the original L-Series, with direct data input to the network and the intuitive on-board control interface known from the ARRI SkyPanel, the new ARRI L-Series Plus offers all the features of the original, including continuous focusing from spot to flood, a smooth and homogenous light field, and full control over light color and intensity, while still providing additional benefits.
What is the ARRI L-Series Plus?
Introduced in 2011, the ARRI L-Series LED fixtures are a professional alternative to typical tungsten Fresnel fixtures, offering the benefits of LEDs, including independent control of color temperature and brightness, and cost savings due to significantly reduced power consumption and cooling requirements. Precise light field control can also be achieved using barndoors and flags, providing the beam shaping and cutting that lighting designers rely on. Additionally, the fully tunable white light allows for the best results across a range of skin tones, camera sensors, and mixed light environments.
The L5-C Plus
The L5-C Plus features a 5″ Fresnel lens, while the L7-C Plus features a 7″ Fresnel lens. L-Series Plus products are roughly the same size and weight as their predecessors, but with up to 90% more light output, they are more powerful and versatile lighting tools (average output is 60% more, depending on model, beam angle and color temperature). Existing barndoors and all other L-Series accessories are fully compatible with the new Plus Series.
The L-Series Plus enhances connectivity by implementing network data input and lighting control via industry standards ArtNet and Streaming ACN. Workflow is simplified by the familiar SkyPanel on-board controls and user interface, and the light output is specially calibrated for optimal reproduction with broadcast and digital cinema cameras, ensuring beautiful skin tones and vibrant colors.
The Design
The robust and ergonomically designed L-Series Plus fixtures meet ARRI’s renowned standards for quality and reliability. Their quality and flexibility make them suitable for a wide range of applications, from film and television studios and locations to live entertainment, photography, theatrical and corporate productions. The combination of a passively cooled enclosure and a low-profile encapsulated fan ensures quiet operation even in the most demanding environments.
The L-Series Plus concept is based on the core principles of adjustability, color fidelity, rugged durability, and ease of use, but has been upgraded to the latest connection standards. Three individual knobs allow fine-tuning of brightness, color temperature, and green/magenta points, and a focus knob on the side of each fixture allows smooth adjustment of beam spread, just like a traditional light source.

The ARRI L-Series Plus is scheduled to go on sale from June 2024. The existing L-Series (L5-C, L7-C, L10-C) will be discontinued at the same time as the release of the L-Series Plus.
