LK SAMYANG (formerly Samyang Optics) has announced the Remaster Slim, an AF lens with interchangeable optical elements, on their website . It is a slim lens that can be used anytime, and is as thin as a body cap, so you can carry it with you at all times. It comes in three focal lengths: 21mm F3.5, 28mm F3.5, and 32mm F2.8, and is compatible with E-mount. Pre-orders are only available in Korea.
Optically interchangeable AF lenses
The LK SAMYANG Remaster Slim focal length changes by simply replacing the optical elements in the lens. This technology allows lenses with different optical characteristics to be used with one lens body. It greatly improves the flexibility of photography and videography and also saves space when carrying them around. The magnetically fixed bayonet mount is easy to replace and can be quickly changed depending on the situation.
The 21mm, 28mm, and 32mm optical systems were recreated with reference to past compact cameras, and were reborn with a design optimized for digital sensors while maintaining their unique characteristics.
Small, lightweight and versatile
The Remaster Slim is smaller and lighter than the company’s previous model, the AF 35mm F2.8 FE. It is less than 2cm in size, weighs less than 80g, and has an AF/MF switch. In MF mode, the minimum focusing distance shortens by a bit. This allows you to capture subjects more dynamically and realistically. It turns any E-mount mirrorless camera into a portable auto camera.
Modern technology with classic charm
Remaster Slim reimagines the characteristics of traditional optical systems with modern technology. This design delivers richer expression: in-focus subjects are depicted with fine detail, while out-of-focus backgrounds have a more painterly bokeh.
Depending on the type and intensity of the light source, it can also create a soft glow effect on the edges of the subject, soften skin tones, and add a story-like atmosphere to the photo, maximizing the photographer’s artistic value and the emotions they want to express.
