New Lens – Leica APO-Summicron f2/43mm ASPH.
The new Leica Q3 43 is equipped with a specially developed lens, the Leica APO-Summicron f2/43mm ASPH. Leica APO lenses are highly regarded as some of the best lenses in the world, and this lens in particular is reputed to boast some of the best performance among Leica’s current lenses.
The focal length of 43mm is very close to the angle of view of the human eye, and the high-resolution 5.76 million dot OLED viewfinder displays the subject naturally without distortion. Therefore, its design is useful for a wide range of purposes including street photography and portraits. In addition, like the Leica Q3, it is equipped with a macro mode, allowing for close-up shooting.
The Leica APO-Summicron 43mm f2 ASPH. has a complex lens structure and aspherical lenses, but the Leica Q3 43 still has a lightweight and compact body. Its imaging performance is excellent, delivering extremely sharp, high-contrast images even in low-light scenes.
The Leica Q3 43, equipped with the Leica APO-Summicron f2/43mm ASPH., delivers high image quality even at wide open aperture, making it possible to blur the background at wide open aperture to make the main subject stand out, while beautifully harmonizing sharp and blurred areas.
Leica Q3 43 Performance
The Leica Q3 43 also has excellent high-sensitivity performance, so you can take beautiful photos even with fast shutter speeds in low-light scenes. The OLED viewfinder and rear LCD monitor display frames that indicate the angle of view equivalent to each focal length of 60mm, 75mm, 90mm, 120mm, and 150mm based on 43mm, and you can shoot still images and videos at each angle of view.
With a maximum recording pixel count of 60 million pixels, you can capture still images of approximately 5 million pixels even when shooting at an angle of view equivalent to 150 mm. Because high definition is maintained even at the maximum focal length equivalent to 150 mm, you can flexibly shoot still images and videos in a variety of scenes and applications, despite the extremely compact body.
The exterior design is different from the Leica Q3, with a new grey leather exterior. The colouring creates an elegant contrast with the black body colour, resulting in a timeless and sophisticated design that is typical of Leica.
Connectivity
It also connects smoothly via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, allowing for a seamless workflow in conjunction with mobile devices. It is particularly compatible with iOS devices, and has been certified by Apple as “Made for iPhone” and “Made for iPad.”
In addition, by connecting to Leica’s dedicated app, “Leica FOTOS,” you can transfer shooting data quickly and securely, and you can download “Leica Look” via the app, which enables creative expression.
By choosing “Leica Chrome,” a new addition to “Leica Look” at the same time as the “Leica Q3 43,” you can give JPEG images an attractive atmosphere like analog photos. By utilizing the wide variety of “Leica Look,” you can create impressive images without editing after shooting. Photos taken with “Leica Look” can also be easily shared by connecting to “Leica FOTOS.”
Leica Q3 43 Specs
In terms of technical specifications, it inherits the DNA of the Leica Q3 and uses a 35mm full-frame back-illuminated CMOS sensor for the image sensor, with triple resolution technology allowing you to choose from 60, 36, or 18 megapixels for the number of recording pixels.
The ISO sensitivity is ISO 50 to 100,000.
