M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS II
OM Digital Solutions announced that its imaging product brand, OM SYSTEM, will release the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS II, a compact and lightweight ultra-telephoto zoom lens that complies with the Micro Four Thirds System standard, from March 1, 2025. This lens focal length is equivalent to 200-800mm in 35mm format.
The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS II is a high-performance lens that supports 5-axis sync image stabilization, and is compact and lightweight, making it possible to shoot handheld despite being a super telephoto zoom lens. In addition, its IPX1 water-resistant and dust-proof design makes it easy to use in harsh natural environments. OM System designed this lens to be the perfect lens for capturing beautiful images of wild birds and their ecology in outdoor fields.
In addition, a special limited edition kit will be released that includes the 1.4x teleconverter “M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 1.4x Teleconverter MC-14.” When combined with this lens, it enables super telephoto shooting equivalent to a maximum of 1120mm (※1), making it ideal for photographing wild birds, for example.

M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS II Main Features
- A compact, lightweight, super telephoto zoom lens with a focal length equivalent to 200-800mm on its own (※1) or up to 1600mm when used with a 2x teleconverter (※2)
- Supports up to 7.0 stops of 5-axis sync image stabilization (*4) for smooth handheld shooting
- High reliability and operability to support shooting in harsh natural environments
More Details of the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS II
A compact, lightweight, super telephoto zoom lens that is equivalent to 200-800mm on its own (※1) and up to 1600mm when used with a 2x teleconverter (※2)
A compact, lightweight super telephoto zoom lens ideal for photographing wild birds and wildlife. A teleconverter can be attached, and when combined with the “M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 2x Teleconverter MC-20”, the focal length becomes equivalent to 1600mm (※1). It can handle most scenes you want to capture, from flocks of wild birds to scenes of them taking off and flying, while maintaining a distance that doesn’t stress the birds.
Four ED lenses are used to suppress color bleeding, which is easily noticeable with super telephoto lenses, and two Super HR (Super High Refractive index) lenses and two HR (High Refractive index) lenses are used to achieve excellent image quality with good clarity even at the edges of the screen throughout the entire zoom range. In addition, ZERO (Zuiko Extra low Reflection Optical) coating is used to reduce the occurrence of ghosting and flare, providing clear image quality even in adverse conditions such as backlighting.
Furthermore, this lens has a minimum shooting distance of 1.3m across the entire zoom range, achieving excellent close-up shooting capabilities for an ultra-telephoto lens. It allows telemacro shooting of insects that fly away if you get too close, from a distance with a maximum shooting magnification equivalent to 0.57x (※2) (nearest shooting range at telephoto end: 60.3 x 45.3mm). It also supports “depth stacking mode,” one of the distinctive features of OM SYSTEM cameras (※5). Multiple shots with different focus positions are taken and then synthesized in the camera to create a single photo with a wider range of focus, so even telemacro shooting with a shallow depth of field allows you to shoot with the entire subject in focus.
Supports up to 7.0 stops of 5-axis sync image stabilization (*4) for smooth handheld shooting
With a more accurate gyro sensor and optimized image stabilization algorithm, it now supports 5-axis sync image stabilization (*4) in coordination with the camera’s built-in image stabilization. It boasts a maximum image stabilization step of 7.0 stops (*3), approaching the top class of OM SYSTEM lenses.
In addition, the image stabilization function not only reduces camera shake when shooting, but also proves effective when framing to capture the subject within the frame. Without this, it is difficult to keep the subject stable within the frame, especially when shooting handheld with a super telephoto lens. This lens supports “5-axis sync image stabilization”, so the viewfinder image is stable even when framing handheld shots, making it easier to capture the subject within the frame, providing strong support for handheld super telephoto shooting.

High reliability and operability to support shooting in harsh natural environments
With a design that takes IPX1 water resistance and dust resistance into consideration, it can be used safely in the rain or in environments where it is splashed with water. The front lens is coated with fluorine, so even if the front of the lens gets wet or dirty, it can be easily removed and shooting can be resumed immediately. Even in natural environments with rapid weather changes, you can carry your equipment around without worrying about getting wet, and you can concentrate on shooting with peace of mind.
It also comes equipped with a focus limit switch that enables quick AF (autofocus) depending on the distance to the subject. The AF operating range can be switched to three levels depending on the shooting distance, so you can quickly focus on the subject even in the super telephoto shooting range.
The newly designed tripod mount can be attached and detached even with the camera attached to the lens. The lens foot is designed to be easy to hold and is compatible with Arca-Swiss type clamps.
