The Canon EOS R50 V was unveiled March 26 2025. Canon USA touts this camera as a video camera that fits in the palm of your hand. The legacy of Cinema EOS technologies is visible in the design, making EOS R50 V one for all creators who have high artistic ambitions to take to the next level.
The EOS R50 V is an APS-C size mirrorless camera aimed at video creators who want to expand the scope of their visual expression. The release date is due in late May 2025, and the RF-S14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ, the first RF lens to feature built-in power zoom, a compact and lightweight wide-angle zoom lens for APS-C size cameras, will debut in late July 2025.

Main Features of the Canon EOS R50 V
Design and specifications suited to video shooting, including a mode dial focused on video shooting
The camera is equipped with a variety of features for comfortable video shooting and improved operability, such as a mode dial focused on video shooting, a tripod screw hole for shooting video in portrait orientation, two large video recording buttons located on the front and top of the camera, and a tally lamp that lights up red while recording video.
In addition, by eliminating the viewfinder, a flat, linear design has been adopted that is highly compatible with video accessories, and a small, lightweight body has been achieved that reduces fatigue even during long periods of shooting. Furthermore, the camera’s high heat dissipation design reduces the impact of temperature increases on shooting time, making it suitable for long periods of shooting and live streaming.
Full-scale video recording capabilities for creators
The combination of an APS-C size CMOS sensor and the DIGIC X image engine creates natural and beautiful bokeh that makes the subject stand out. In addition to high-quality 4K30P video recording with 6K oversampling without cropping, it can also record 4K60P (crop) video.
Furthermore, the EOS R SYSTEM is the first to be equipped with color filters, making it easy to enjoy cinematic image expression, while it also features the Custom Picture function that is also featured in the CINEMA EOS SYSTEM, which allows image quality to be adjusted according to the application, meeting the needs of creators who pay particular attention to detail.

The RF-S14-30mm F4-6.3 IS STM PZ
The first RF lens with a built-in power zoom.
This lens is the first RF lens to feature a built-in power zoom, allowing you to zoom in smoothly at a constant speed on your subject. When used with the EOS R50 V, the power zoom can be operated from the camera.
In addition, the zoom can be controlled with the zoom ring on the lens, making it easy to adjust the angle of view when taking selfies. The zoom speed can be set to two levels, low and high, depending on the rotation angle of the zoom ring. Furthermore, by keeping the lens barrel fixed in length and not extending when zooming, the center of gravity of the entire camera is less likely to change, allowing for comfortable and stable shooting even when using a gimbal, where balance adjustment is important
