LAOWA unveiled two new lenses, the “LAOWA 17mm F4 Zero-D Tilt-Shift” and the “LAOWA 17mm F4 Zero-D Shift,” on May 1, 2026. Delivery typically takes about one month from the time of order. The product utilizes a common platform that combines an ultra-wide 104° field of view with the “Zero-D” design, which minimizes distortion. This lens comes in two versions: a “Tilt-Shift” version that allows for advanced focus control, and a “Shift” version specialized in perspective correction, providing the optimal solution for diverse workflows in professional settings.
Designed to be optimized for full-frame mirrorless cameras, yet it secures a vast image circle that can even cover medium format sensors. It is said to accurately fulfill all the demands of photographers, from correcting vertical lines in architectural photography to creating panoramic landscapes and freely manipulating depth of field with its tilt function.
LAOWA 17mm F4 Zero-D Tilt-Shift Lens Product features
“Zero-D” design minimizes distortion to the extreme.
Thanks to its unique 12-group, 18-element optical design, distortion is suppressed to virtually zero. Straight lines in buildings are accurately depicted as straight lines without distortion, even at the edges of the image. This not only eliminates the need for post-processing with correction software, but also prevents the loss of resolution associated with digital correction, allowing the lens’s inherent sharp image quality to be fully utilized.

Excellent shift function
“Tilt-Shift” lenses allow for a maximum shift of ±12mm, while “Shift” lenses allow for a maximum shift of ±11mm. This optically corrects trapezoidal distortion that occurs during architectural photography, achieving a perfect composition while maintaining vertical and horizontal alignment.

A vast image circle that even covers medium format sensors.
It is compatible not only with full-frame mirrorless cameras, but also with medium-format sensor cameras such as the Fujifilm GFX system and Hasselblad X system. Even when using a medium-format sensor, a shift of up to ±8mm is possible, fully utilizing the high-resolution image quality unique to large format.
Flexible focus plane control
The “17mm F4 Zero-D Tilt-Shift” features a tilt mechanism of up to ±10°. Based on the principle of Scheinproof, tilting the lens allows for focusing on the entire subject even when the subject plane and sensor plane are not parallel, while avoiding a decrease in resolution due to diffraction. Conversely, it also enables advanced selective focusing, such as the “miniature effect” which severely limits the depth of field.

Seamless panoramic stitching using a 360° rotation mechanism.
The lens body features a 360° rotation mechanism. The shift direction can be freely changed, making it easy to perform precise panoramic stitching without parallax.

Features a highly versatile 86mm screw-in filter thread.
Despite being an ultra-wide-angle lens, it allows for direct attachment of 86mm diameter screw-in filters to the front of the lens. This eliminates the need for bulky dedicated filter holders, enabling the smart use of ND filters and CPL filters, thus supporting landscape photography that takes advantage of mobility.

Expressive power of a minimum focusing distance of 25cm and 14 aperture blades.
With a minimum focusing distance of just 25cm, it’s possible to take dynamic close-up shots that take advantage of the perspective unique to ultra-wide-angle lenses. In addition, the use of 14 aperture blades allows you to produce beautifully sharp 14-line sunstars from point light sources such as nightscapes and the sun when the aperture is stopped down.
