Venus Optics announced the LAOWA 200mm f/2 AF FF, a full-frame lens for the Nikon Z, Sony E, and Canon EF mounts. Pre-order and shipping for the lens is due in November of  2025.

What is the LAOWA 200mm f/2 AF FF?

The new LAOWA 200mm f/2 AF FF is designed for full-frame cameras, and brings one of the most coveted focal lengths into reach. Traditionally, 200mm f/2 lenses have been ultra-expensive and out of reach for most photographers, reserved for only a few professionals. With a price of just USD $1,799 to $1,999, a weight of only 1.588kg for the Canon model, and with accurate autofocus, LAOWA makes this highly sought-after focal length lens more accessible than ever.

Delivering sharp focus, stunning compression, and outstanding low-light performance, the LAOWA 200mm f/2 opens up new creative and affordable possibilities for portrait, sports, and event shooters who demand flagship-level results without flagship-level costs.

F/2 Aperture Allows for Sharp Focusing

This lens comes equipped with an ultra-large f/2 aperture that delivers both speed and versatility. The bright aperture allows you to use faster shutter speeds to capture moving subjects with precision and clarity. It also performs exceptionally well in low-light environments, producing clean and detailed images without the need to raise ISO. The fast iris is perfect for low light situations. Capture fast-moving subjects with sharpness and precision, even in low light, while maintaining clean, detailed images.

Incredible bokeh effects are another feature of the f/2 aperture. Its bold bokeh and powerful compression create striking three-dimensional effects, making subjects stand out against beautifully soft backgrounds—perfect for portraits, sports, or storytelling.

Lightest 200mm Full-Frame Lens in its Class

Typically, telephoto large-aperture lenses tend to be on the heavier side. The LAOWA 200mm f/2 AF FF, however, weighs only 1.59 kilograms for the Canon EF Model; 1.78kg for the Nikon Z and Sony E models. A lighter lens makes for a much more maneuverable set up.

Lens Construction and MTF Diagrams

The lens construction is made of 11 elements in 9 groups. Aperture consists of 9 blades, and a minimum focsuing distance of 1.5 meters.
