SanDisk announced at CES 2026 “SANDISK Optimus,” a new brand name for its lineup of internal SSDs for gamers, creators, and professionals.
The SANDISK Optimus GX PRO is a powerful internal storage solution that combines the power of SANDISK Optimus with the reliability of SANDISK Optimus GX PRO.
What is the SANDISK Optimus?
Featuring vibrant new packaging and product designs inspired by SanDisk’s innovation and iconic brand image, the Optimus line creates room for future growth as the company expands its products to meet the needs of gamers, creators and professionals.
The new design reflects the company’s pioneering brand heritage and relentless focus on innovation that delights end users. While the overall feel of the SANDISK Optimus brand is boldly different, the product portfolio will continue SanDisk’s long-standing reputation for superior quality and reliability, characteristics that have shaped its long history of flash innovation.
“SANDISK Optimus sets a new standard for performance for consumer needs,” Heidi Arkinstall, vice president of Global Consumer Brands and Digital Marketing at SanDisk, said in the press release for CES 2026. “Our products cover a wide range of areas, and this change makes it easier for consumers to find the solution that meets their needs.”
To make performance differences more intuitive and enable confident product choices, the Optimus portfolio has been segmented to allow consumers to easily identify the product that meets their needs.
SANDISK Optimus Product Line
Designed as a benchmark for performance, it’s tailored for content creators who demand fast, smooth performance. It offers the right balance of speed and price. Previously, the WD Blue SSDs were sold under the brand name WD Blue (e.g., WD Blue SN5100 NVMe SSD).
SANDISK Optimus GX Product Line
Designed for limitless gaming, these SSDs are designed for players who demand instant load times, high capacity, and power efficiency. Previously, these products were sold under the WD_BLACK brand name (e.g., WD_BLACK SN7100 NVMe SSD).
Optimus GX PRO Product Line
This flagship SSD delivers the highest performance in the Optimus brand portfolio. It’s designed for developers, professionals, and gamers looking to build AI PCs, workstations, and high-end PCs, seeking the latest groundbreaking technology and uncompromising performance. It combines the latest storage technology with high capacity. Previously, this SSD was marketed under the WD_BLACK brand (e.g., the WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe SSD).
“Our internal drives are known and trusted by millions around the world, and our new brand name, SANDISK Optimus, perfectly captures the strength of our portfolio,” said Anil Moolchandani, vice president of product management and clients at SanDisk. “Our family of internal SSD products is designed for professionals, gamers and prosumers, and is built to meet the demands of developer workflows and gaming environments,” added Moolchandani.
Products under the new brand name will be available for sale, pre-order or introduction at select retailers around the world starting in the first half of 2026.
