Optimal focal length for portraits
50mm (equivalent to approximately 75mm in 35mm format) is a medium telephoto angle of view suitable for portrait photography. It makes it easy to capture facial expressions and upper bodies with natural perspective, and the in-focus area is sharp while the background is softly blurred, allowing for a three-dimensional depiction. Because it can emphasize the subject while appropriately tidying up the background, it is suitable not only for portraits but also for product photography and small object photography.
