Apple announced “Siri AI,” a completely new version of Siri that leverages Apple Intelligence.
With its ability to understand personal context, its extensive global knowledge, and on-screen recognition, Siri AI is far more capable and conversational than ever before. From searching and presenting answers from the web on virtually any topic to displaying relevant information from personal messages, emails, photos, and more, Siri AI helps users find what they need instantly.
What is Siri AI ?
Siri AI includes a dedicated app that lets you view conversation history across products, an enhanced visual intelligence experience, and integrated tools for writing. With a uniquely designed, innovative architecture that protects user privacy, Siri AI leverages next-generation Apple Intelligence to bring cutting-edge understanding and reasoning, as well as powerful, cross-system capabilities, to Apple’s operating systems.
These features are available for developer testing starting today and are scheduled to be released to users as a beta version later this year.
Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering, commented as follows:
“I am very pleased to announce Siri AI, an assistant with dramatically improved competence and conversational abilities, designed to help users find information and get tasks done throughout the day.
This gives Siri AI access to a wide range of global insights, allowing users to get up-to-date answers on virtually any topic. Combined with on-screen recognition and an understanding of personal context, Siri AI helps users perform actions across apps more naturally than ever before.”
A completely new, deeply integrated Siri
Powered by next-generation Apple Intelligence, Siri AI is a completely redesigned version of Siri that is more convenient, more capable, and smarter. With detailed and relevant answers and natural conversational interactions, Siri AI empowers users to do more than ever before.

Siri AI can answer questions related to the content on the user’s screen, use an understanding of personal context to search across apps, and access the web to get the latest information and generate helpful answers using a wide range of global insights. This new version of Siri is built on Apple Intelligence and leverages personal context understanding to help users find what they need at that moment from messages, emails, photos, and more. For example, users can ask Siri to find a restaurant recommended by a friend in a message, find a hotel reservation number in an old email, or display photos from a recent trip with family and friends. Furthermore, developers can extend personal context understanding to third-party apps by integrating with Spotlight.
By enhancing in-app actions available across the entire system, users can perform tasks across apps, such as composing emails from scratch or editing and sharing multiple photos using Siri AI. Using on-screen recognition, Siri AI can answer questions related to the content on the user’s screen. For example, if you receive a message about a home party with friends, you can brainstorm with Siri about what dishes to bring and add the recipes to your Notes app.
Global Knowledge
Furthermore, Siri AI leverages a wide range of global knowledge, retrieving the latest information from the web on virtually any topic to generate helpful answers, such as “When and where will the next solar eclipse be visible?” or “When will a particular musician be performing in my area?”. Moreover, almost any of Siri’s answers can be expanded into richer conversations, allowing for follow-up questions.
Users can access this new version of Siri from anywhere on their system. iPhone users can activate Siri by saying “Hey Siri,” pressing the side button, or swiping down from Dynamic Island to start a conversation and get a more detailed answer. On iPads and Macs, Siri AI is integrated into Spotlight, allowing users to search for answers to almost any question.
Furthermore, because it’s integrated into the system-wide context menu, you can also ask questions about images, files, and text on the screen by holding down the “control” key and clicking on them. With Apple Vision Pro, Siri AI leverages spatial computing and features 3D visualizations that can be placed anywhere in space, allowing users to invoke Siri simply by looking at them and starting to speak.

Users can access Siri AI across their devices when they’re out and about using their iPhone, Apple Watch, CarPlay, and AirPods. Apple Watch users can start conversations with Siri directly from their wrist, and new Smart Stack suggestions can be automatically displayed to help them continue their previous conversations.
Redesigned from the ground up with a powerful new architecture.
Siri has been fundamentally redesigned with powerful AI at its core. It fully leverages a groundbreaking architecture for Apple Intelligence, including the next-generation Apple Foundation Model, which operates on devices and servers using private cloud computing.
When private cloud computing is processing user requests, users’ personal data is never stored or accessed by Apple or anyone else. External experts can continuously verify at any time whether this privacy commitment is being upheld. Furthermore, Siri AI uses a system orchestrator and leverages core technologies such as Spotlight indexing and App Toolbox, which process everything on the device, to ensure users always have control over their data.
With powerful new features and unparalleled privacy protection, Siri remains the world’s most privacy-conscious digital assistant.

A powerful on-device model that brings new functionality.
In Apple’s most advanced on-device models to date, Siri AI delivers a more expressive voice and significantly improved accuracy in overall system-wide voice input. Users can customize Siri’s voice expressiveness and pace to suit their own preferences.
The voice input feature can now capture what the user is saying more accurately and refined as text, automatically processing capitalization (for English), punctuation, and formatting as the user speaks. Improved speech comprehension allows users to speak naturally and trust that their words will be displayed clearly, accurately, and exactly as intended.
A dedicated Siri app that allows you to check your conversation history.
When users want to review their past conversation history or start a new one, they can open a completely new, dedicated Siri app. The Siri app uses iCloud to sync conversation history across the user’s devices while protecting their privacy. So, even if you start a conversation with Siri on your Mac, you can continue that conversation on your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or Apple Vision Pro, bringing your rich conversations together in one place.

Visual intelligence is now available in Siri on iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro.
Siri now has powerful image-understanding capabilities and multimodal functionality, allowing users to ask Siri questions about visual content.
On iPhones, the Camera app now integrates Siri’s multimodal capabilities, and an all-new Siri Mode allows users to get information about what’s in front of them and take action based on it. Users can simply tap the shutter button and show Siri what they’re looking at to get helpful answers. Siri Mode in the Camera app also includes a wealth of new actions, such as using Apple Cash to split the bill with friends or getting nutritional information about food.
For the first time, Siri now offers visual intelligence on iPad and Mac, allowing users to seamlessly search, ask questions, and take actions using images on their screen. On iPad, visual intelligence is directly integrated into the screenshot experience. On Mac, users can access it using dedicated keyboard shortcuts, selecting what’s on their Mac’s display and typing directly into Siri to get helpful answers.
Visual intelligence has also been extended to Apple Vision Pro, allowing you to ask Siri questions simply by looking at it, from content within app windows to objects in your surroundings.

A smart way to create and edit text anywhere using Siri AI
Siri now has more powerful writing tools built in than ever before, so users can use Siri AI for almost any writing situation. Users explain what they need, and Siri creates a draft from scratch and works with them. If they want to revise it, they explain how they want to change it, and Siri quickly updates it.
When composing emails or messages, Siri can reflect how you typically communicate with each recipient, including your usual punctuation and tone. For example, if you usually send short bulleted lists to your manager, an email draft created with Siri will be generated in the same style. Siri also provides hints and suggestions for improving what you’ve written. Furthermore, Siri can automatically proofread your text across the entire system, including many third-party apps, as you type.

With additional Apple Intelligence features, the apps you use every day become smarter.
Next-generation Apple Intelligence brings exciting new features to the apps you rely on every day, including amazing editing capabilities in the Photos app, Safari tools that will change the way you browse the web, and new ways to bring your imagination to life in Image Playground.
